PDQ 9910 Electric Strike for 6300 / 6400 Rim Exit Devices
Electric Strikes for PDQ Locks and Rim Exit Devices
An electric strike is a door frame strike with a keeper that releases electrically, so an access control system can unlock the door without changing the lock. The lock stays mechanical, and people inside still leave by turning the lever or pushing the exit device.
PDQ makes three electric strikes, each sized to one kind of latch: the 85001 for PDQ Grade 1 and Grade 2 cylindrical locks, the 85003 for PDQ MR Series mortise locks without a deadbolt, and the 9910 for PDQ 6300 and 6400 rim exit devices. All three come in 630 satin stainless steel.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between fail safe and fail secure?
A fail secure electric strike stays locked when power is cut, and a fail safe strike unlocks when power is cut. The PDQ 85001 and 85003 are field changeable between the two and ship fail secure. The 9910 is fail secure only.
Can electric strikes be used on fire-rated doors?
Only if the strike is fire rated and fail secure, because a fire door must stay latched during a fire. The PDQ 9910 is 3-hour fire rated and fail secure. The 85001 and 85003 are not listed as fire rated.
Can an electric strike release a deadbolt?
No. A strike cannot release a deadbolt, which is why the 85003 is for MR Series mortise locks without a deadbolt. A mortise lock with a deadbolt needs an electrified lock instead.
