PDQ GP182 Grade 2 Office / Entry Cylindrical Lever Lock

Grade 2 Heavy Duty Commercial Cylindrical Lever Lock

The PDQ GP182 is the Office / Entry function (ANSI/BHMA F82) of the PDQ GP Series Grade 2 Heavy Duty Cylindrical Lock.

The PDQ GP Series is an ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Grade 2 cylindrical lever lock with a heavy duty diecast chassis. Its lever torque resistance of 1,500 lbf-in is tested to three times the ANSI/BHMA standard.

The GP Series complements PDQ's Grade 1 GT and XGT cylindrical locks, using the same Philadelphia, Boston and Miami lever designs and rose options. That lets a building put Grade 1 hardware on exterior and high-traffic doors and GP locks on low to medium traffic openings without a visual mismatch. GP locks are assembled in Lancaster, PA and carry an 8-year limited warranty.

Key Features

  • Heavy duty diecast, investment cast and cold rolled steel chassis with stainless steel mechanism
  • 13-gauge steel anti-rotation plate installed on the secure side

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the GP and PDQ's Grade 1 GT lock?
GP is Grade 2, rated for lower-traffic openings, while GT is Grade 1 for heavy-duty use. GP shares the same Philadelphia, Boston and Miami lever designs as GT, so a project can specify GT on exterior and high-traffic doors and GP on interior doors without a visual mismatch.

Is the GP lock fire rated and ADA compliant?
Yes. GP is UL listed for 3-hour fire doors on single doors up to 4'0" x 8'0" and complies with ADA and ICC/ANSI 117.1 accessibility standards.

What door prep and backset does the GP use?
GP is a thru-bolt design that fits standard 160/161 door prep on doors 1-3/8" to 1-3/4" thick, with a 2-3/4" standard or 2-3/8" backset.

PDQ GP182BSN626D – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the PDQ GP182 fit a standard 160/161 door prep on a 1-3/4 inch door?
Yes. The GP182 is a thru-bolt cylindrical lock built for 1-3/8 to 1-3/4 inch doors and fits standard 160 and 161 prep, and it ships preset for 1-3/4 inches. Backset is 2-3/4 inches standard with a 2-3/8 inch option, so it drops into either of the two common bored backsets without redrilling.
2) What does the Office / Entry function on the PDQ GP182 actually do?
The GP182 is the ANSI/BHMA F82 Office / Entry function: a keyed single-cylinder lock where the outside lever can be locked by key and the inside lever always retracts the latch for free egress. It is the function you want on an office, classroom office, or tenant suite door that gets locked and unlocked from the outside with a key.
3) Do I need to specify handing when ordering a PDQ GP182 lever lock?
No handing to specify. The GP182 is non-handed, so one lock covers left and right hand openings and you can stock a single part across a building. Lever rotation is 65 degrees.
4) Can the PDQ GP182 go on a 3-hour fire rated door?
Yes. The GP182 is UL 10C listed for 3-hour fire doors on single doors up to 4 ft by 8 ft. It is also certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Grade 2 and complies with ADA and ICC/ANSI 117.1. Note the listing covers single doors only at that size limit, so a pair of fire doors needs the opening checked against the manufacturer's listing.
5) Will the GP182 latch into my existing strike, or do I need to change it?
The latchbolt has a 1/2 inch throw, which is normal for a cylindrical latch, and the lock ships with an ASA standard strike measuring 1-1/4 x 4-7/8 inches. If your frame is already prepped for an ASA strike it drops in. For wood frames or older preps, order the Full Lip Strike at 1-5/8 x 2-1/4 inches or the T-Strike at 1-1/8 x 2-3/4 inches instead. A dust box (DB) can be added.
6) Can I key the PDQ GP182 into my existing Schlage master key system?
Yes. The GP182 uses a 6-pin brass cylinder in SCC, the Schlage C compatible keyway, as standard, and PDQ will key it to existing bittings or master key it. Other keyways are available at order time including Schlage E, Corbin 59A1/60/L4, Russwin D1, Sargent LA and RA-RC, Accentra (Yale) E1R and GA, Falcon E-R, Arrow AR1, Kwikset (5-pin only), and PDQ's restricted TA. Keying options run from keyed different and 0-bitted through keyed alike, master keyed, and construction master keyed. Two keys come per lock.
7) Does the PDQ GP182 take small format interchangeable cores from Best, Falcon or Arrow?
It does. The GP182 can be ordered with SFIC prep and PDQ states compatibility with Best, Falcon and Arrow small format IC cores. SFIC choices include prep with a 6-pin core, 7-pin core, construction core, plastic construction core, or prep less core. Schlage large format options are also offered: LFIC prep with a Schlage core, LFIC prep with construction core, or LFIC prep less core. If you supply your own conventional cylinder, order Less Cylinder.
8) What is the PDQ GP182 the equivalent of in Schlage or Falcon?
PDQ cross references the GP182 Office / Entry lever lock against the Schlage ALx50, Falcon B501, Corbin CL3861, Dorma Arch C250, Hager 3550, and Accentra 5302LN. Because it fits 160/161 prep with a 2-3/4 or 2-3/8 inch backset and is non-handed, it goes back into the same bored door prep those locks came out of.
9) Should I use the PDQ GP182 or a Grade 1 lock for my opening?
Pick by traffic. The GP182 is Grade 2 heavy duty, intended for low to medium traffic openings, typically interior doors. For exterior and high-use doors step up to PDQ's Grade 1 GT or XGT cylindrical locks. The practical reason to mix them is that GP uses the same Philadelphia, Boston and Miami levers and rose options as GT, so the building looks consistent even though the grades differ. Lever torque resistance on GP is 1,500 lbf-in, three times the BHMA/ANSI requirement.
10) Does the GP182 have options for a healthcare or X-ray room door?
Yes, two of them. A lead-lined rose (LL) is available for radiology and imaging rooms, and an antimicrobial coating (AM) can be applied to the lever set including inside and outside levers and roses, offered in 626 satin chrome only. For visually impaired wayfinding there is also a tactile abrasive coating, inside only (TC1IS), outside only (TC1OS), or both sides (TC2).
11) Can the PDQ GP182 be used on an exterior door?
It is a Grade 2 lock PDQ positions for low to medium traffic openings, so an exterior or high-use door is better served by PDQ's Grade 1 GT or XGT. If the GP182 is going somewhere exposed, a weatherized finish is offered in 626 satin chrome only. It is a mechanical lock with no electronic option.
12) Which finishes and lever styles does the PDQ GP182 come in?
Seven finishes: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 613E dark oxidized satin bronze, 619 satin nickel, 622 flat black, 625 bright chrome, and 626 satin chrome. Three lever styles, all solid diecast: Philadelphia, Boston and Miami. Roses are 3-3/8 inch diameter wrought brass with concealed screws. If the two sides of the door need to differ, order the SF split finish option and designate the outside trim first.
