PDQ HSC807 High Security SFIC Core, 7-Pin

PDQ High Security Cylinders, Cores and Cams

PDQ High Security cylinders and cores add mechanical barriers that a standard pin tumbler core does not have, resisting drilling, picking and casual key copying. The family covers key in knob/lever cylinders, mortise/rim combo and mortise cylinders, small format (SFIC) and large format Schlage compatible (LFIC) interchangeable cores, and high security cams for the mortise cylinders.

Two levels are offered. Standard High Security cylinders use two hardened anti-drill pins and a proprietary PDQ keyway with a sidebar. High Security cylinders and cores use a minimum of 11 anti-drill and stainless steel pins. Because the sidebar keyway blank is not a standard retail key wall profile, duplication is limited to controlled sources.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes a cylinder core high security instead of standard?
PDQ High Security cores add hardened anti-drill pins plus a proprietary keyway with a sidebar, mechanical barriers a standard pin tumbler core does not have. A standard core relies on the pin stack alone.

Which PDQ products do the high security cores work with?
PDQ lists them as compatible with its GP, SD and CL Series Grade 2 locks, KV Series deadbolts, and trim including 6T thumb latches, 4P plate pulls, 4GW grip pulls and 6S rose trim.

Is PDQ High Security the same as the VAULT keying system?
No. High Security is a proprietary sidebar keyway with hardened anti-drill pins in a familiar cylinder format. VAULT is a separate PDQ platform built around a patented tapered gate (U.S. Patent #12338653).

PDQ HSC807626 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the PDQ HSC807 core fit a standard small format interchangeable core housing?
The HSC807 is a small format interchangeable core (SFIC) in the 7-pin configuration, so it drops into SFIC housings and locks prepped for a figure-8 small format core. PDQ lists its high security cores as compatible with its own GP, SD and CL Series Grade 2 locks, KV Series deadbolts, and trim including 6T thumb latches, 4P plate pulls, 4GW grip pulls and 6S rose trim. If your existing system is keyed on a 6-pin SFIC master key system, a 7-pin core is a different pinning depth arrangement and needs to be keyed into a 7-pin system.
2) What do I have to specify when ordering the PDQ HSC807 core?
Two things. Finish, which is 626 satin chrome, and keying, which is a required selection: KD keyed different, KA keyed alike, or MK master keyed with a master keying charge. The core cannot be ordered 0 bitted, so a keying choice has to be made at order time. Cores ship with the keying charge and 2 cut keys included.
3) Can my locksmith cut extra keys for a PDQ high security core?
Not from a retail key wall. The HSC807 uses a proprietary PDQ sidebar keyway, and PDQ does not sell key blanks for its high security cylinders, so duplication is limited to controlled sources. Plan your key count at order time. Each core comes with 2 cut keys. If you need a system where any shop can duplicate keys, a standard pin tumbler SFIC core is the right choice instead.
4) I need a high security cylinder for a mortise lock, not an interchangeable core. What does PDQ offer?
The HSC807 is an SFIC core and will not serve a mortise lock that is prepped for a threaded mortise cylinder. On the same high security keyway PDQ offers key in knob/lever cylinders, a mortise/rim combo at 1-1/8 inch, and mortise cylinders at 1-1/4 and 1-1/2 inch, plus high security cams to suit Adams Rite, Accentra (Yale), Russwin/PDQ, Falcon, Schlage and Sargent offset type mortise applications. Those cylinders ship with 2 cut keys.
5) What is the difference between the PDQ 6-pin and 7-pin high security SFIC cores?
Both are small format interchangeable cores on the same proprietary PDQ sidebar keyway; the HSC807 is the 7-pin version. The extra chamber gives more key change capacity and more levels for master keying, which matters on a large facility with several masterkey tiers. Pick the pin count that matches the existing SFIC system in the building, since 6-pin and 7-pin cores are keyed on different systems.
6) Can I master key PDQ HSC807 cores across a building so one key opens everything?
Yes. Master keyed (MK) is one of the keying selections, alongside keyed alike (KA) if you want a group of doors on one key and keyed different (KD) for individual keys. A master keying charge applies on MK. Because the keyway is proprietary to PDQ, the whole system has to be built within PDQ high security, which is also what keeps unauthorized key copies out of the building.
7) If I buy a PDQ LFIC mortise or rim housing, does a core come with it?
No. PDQ states that LFIC mortise and rim housings do not include the IC core, so the core is a separate line on the order. Note also that PDQ's large format interchangeable core option is a Schlage compatible 6-pin core, not the HSC807, which is small format.
8) Does the PDQ HSC807 come in anything other than satin chrome?
Satin chrome, 626, is the finish for the HSC807 high security SFIC core. On an interchangeable core only the face shows once it is installed, so 626 sits acceptably against most chrome and brushed nickel lock finishes without matching the lockset exactly.
