1) Do I have to remove the ballast to install the RAB HIDFA LED retrofit lamp?
Yes. The HIDFA is a ballast bypass lamp, so the existing HID ballast has to be removed or wired around and the socket fed line voltage directly. It runs on 100-277V input, which covers 120V, 208V, 240V and 277V circuits, so an electrician can land it on whatever the fixture is already fed with. If you want a lamp that runs on the existing ballast without rewiring, this is not that lamp.
2) Will the RAB HIDFA screw into a standard medium base socket?
