The EZ36 kit boxes everything to automate a single 36 inch door: one HA8-LP low profile operator, two 4.5 inch square push plates, two surface mount boxes, two 900 MHz wireless transmitters, one 900 MHz receiver, plus the install manual and decals. You pick the operator, the arm style (push, pull, or universal) and the color, and there is nothing else to source for a basic activation setup. Average install time is about 1-1/2 hours.
2) The HA8-LP operator is called non-handed, so why is there a right hand pull arm version?
The operator itself is non-handed, so the same header unit works on a left or right hand opening. Handing lives in the arm. A pull arm has to be ordered for the specific swing: W9-210 is the clear pull arm right hand kit, W9-205 is the clear pull left hand, and the bronze equivalents are W9-230 (RH) and W9-225 (LH). If you do not want to commit to a hand, order the universal arm kit instead, W9-215 in clear or W9-235 in bronze.
3) Should I order the push arm or the pull arm version of the Record EZ36 kit?
It depends on which side of the door the header sits relative to the swing. Mount the operator on the side the door swings away from and you use a push arm (W9-200 clear, W9-220 bronze, both non-handed). Mount it on the side the door swings toward and you need a pull arm, which is handed: W9-205/W9-210 in clear for left and right hand, W9-225/W9-230 in bronze. The universal arm kits, W9-215 and W9-235, cover either condition if you are buying before the site survey is settled.
4) What power does the Record HA8-LP low profile operator need at the door?
It runs on 115VAC, so the opening needs line voltage brought to the header. The activation side is wireless out of the box (two 900 MHz transmitters and a receiver ship in the EZ36 kit), so you are not pulling low voltage runs out to the push plates.
5) Is the Record HA8-LP rated for a fire rated door opening?
The HA8-LP is UL325 and UL10C certified. UL325 is the standard for powered door operators and UL10C is the fire door test standard, so it is listed for use on fire rated openings.
6) Can one Record EZ36 kit automate a pair of doors, or do I need two?
Each EZ36 kit contains a single operator sized for one 36 inch door, so a pair of doors takes two operators. The HA8-LP itself is approved for single or pair applications, so the pair is handled by ordering two operators (and matching their arms to each leaf's swing and hand) rather than a different model.
7) Will the Record HA8-LP operator hold up in a busy building entrance?
It is a commercial operator rated for moderate traffic, and Record positions it for moderate to high traffic locations where reliability matters more than added features. The gearbox is permanently lubricated so there is no scheduled lubrication, and the door still opens by hand normally when the operator is not powered or in use. Two finishes are orderable, 689 clear anodized aluminum and 710 dark bronze, and the finish changes the part number: clear kits run W9-200 through W9-215 and bronze kits run W9-220 through W9-235, with the arm style setting the last digits. 9) Do I need to add wall switches and wiring to the push plates for a Record EZ36 install?
No. The kit ships two 4.5 inch square push plates with surface mount boxes and two 900 MHz wireless transmitters plus one receiver, so the actuators talk to the operator over RF. That means no conduit or low voltage runs between the plates and the header, which is most of the reason the average install lands around an hour and a half. Line voltage still has to reach the header at 115VAC.
10) Can people still open the door by hand if the Record HA8-LP loses power?
