1) Will the Record HA8-LP low profile operator work on a left or right hand door?
The HA8-LP header is non-handed, so one unit covers either swing. You set direction at install rather than ordering a hand. It can also be configured for single, pair, or dual egress openings.
2) What is the difference between the push and pull version of the HA8-LP, and how do I know which one I need?
It comes down to which side of the door the header sits and how much reveal you have. The push configuration handles reveal up to 14 inches, while the pull configuration is limited to reveal up to 5 inches. The 39 inch push operator described here is the push arm setup, so measure from the face of the door to the header mounting surface before you commit.
3) Can I tie a maglock or electric strike into this auto operator, or do I need a separate power supply and relay?
No separate relay board is needed. The HA8-LP has a built in strike/maglock relay that can be set fail safe or fail secure, and it supplies 24 VDC strike power from the operator. The control box is a single HA8 with data, 24 VDC, 3 AMP, protected by a 3 amp fuse. That is enough to run a typical strike off the header, and it lets the operator sequence unlock before opening.
4) What power does the Record HA8-LP swing door operator need at the header?
Standard operating voltage is 115VAC, so you need a dedicated 120V circuit run to the header. The internal control board steps that down to 24 VDC for accessories and strike power.
5) Can I use my existing push plates and motion sensors with this operator?
The HA8-LP takes most common safety and activation devices, and it has separate inputs for activation and for safety devices, so a wall push plate and an overhead presence sensor can both land on the board without a splitter. It can also be integrated with building access and security systems.
