Sargent 25RO ED – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Sargent 25RO ED arm fit a Sargent 1431 Series door closer?
Yes. The 25RO ED is a wrought standard closer arm built specifically for the Sargent 1431 Series closer, so it goes on as a direct replacement for the original arm. It is not a universal arm, so if the closer body on your door is a different Sargent series or another brand, this is not the part.
2) My 1431 closer arm is bent but the closer body still works. Do I have to replace the whole closer?
No. The 25RO ED arm is sold as a replacement part so a worn or damaged arm can be swapped without pulling and replacing the entire 1431 Series closer body. That keeps the door out of service for less time and avoids re-drilling the frame or door for a new closer.
3) Is the 25RO ED a standard arm or a hold-open/parallel arm?
It is a wrought standard arm, meaning the regular closer arm configuration rather than a hold-open type. If your 1431 opening currently uses a different arm configuration, the standard arm will change how that door behaves.
4) Is the 25RO ED a genuine Sargent part or an aftermarket copy?
It is an authentic Sargent door closer component, not an aftermarket equivalent, which is what keeps the geometry and mounting identical to what came off the 1431 closer originally.
5) What finish does the Sargent 25RO ED closer arm come in?
One finish only: 693 black painted. If the rest of your closer trim on that opening is aluminum or brass, the arm will read as black against it, so for a fleet of doors where appearance matters you would want the closer cover and arm to match.
6) Is this Sargent closer arm rated for commercial traffic or is it a residential part?
Commercial. The 25RO ED is a commercial-grade Sargent door closer component intended for high-traffic openings in offices, schools, healthcare facilities, retail, warehouses, multi-tenant residential and government buildings.
