The C8X 6-pin bored lock cylinder is offered in nine Sargent conventional keyways: LA (the standard), LB, LC, LE, LF, LG, LJ, LK and LL. If you are adding doors to a building already on a Sargent conventional system, order the keyway that matches the existing keys so the cylinder falls into your master key system rather than standing alone.

The 8X-1 variation of the cylinder covers all lock functions in the 8 Line bored lock family, so you don't have to match a different cylinder to storeroom, classroom, entry or office functions. It is a bored (cylindrical) lock cylinder, not a mortise cylinder, so it belongs in the 8 Line bored locks rather than in a mortise lock case or a rim exit device.
4) Is the Sargent C8X cylinder certified for commercial use?
Yes. The C8X cylinder is built to ANSI/BHMA A156.5 Grade 1 and is designated for commercial applications, which is the cylinder standard specifiers call for on schools, healthcare, government and office openings where key control is part of the spec.
