1) Is the Satco S11395 MR16 dimmable, and will it work on my existing low voltage dimmer?
Dimmable, yes. But an LED MR16 dims through whatever 12V transformer feeds it, and magnetic and electronic transformers behave differently with a low wattage LED load. At 4.5W per lamp you may fall below the minimum load a magnetic transformer needs to work correctly, which shows up as flicker or a dead zone at the bottom of the dial. Check the transformer's minimum load before you swap a whole run of 35W halogens.
2) Can I use this Satco 5000K MR16 in a bathroom, covered entry, or outdoor soffit?
Damp location rated, so covered and sheltered spots are fine: bathrooms, covered porches, soffits, canopies. Not for a wet location where the lamp takes direct rain or spray. It also mounts in any orientation, base up or base down, so recessed cans and uplights are both fine.
3) Is 5000K too cold for a retail display or lobby, and where does this Satco MR16 actually belong?
5000K is daylight white, a crisp blue-white. It reads correctly in garages, work areas, security lighting, mechanical rooms, and merchandising where you want product color to look bright rather than warm. For a hotel lobby, a restaurant, or residential accent lighting it will look stark next to the 2700K to 3000K lamps around it, and 5000K is not selectable on this lamp. If you are matching existing warm heads, order the warmer color temperature instead.
4) How good is the color rendering on this Satco MR16 for showing merchandise or finishes?
CRI is 80, which is the standard commercial benchmark. Fine for general accent, task, and back-of-house work. If you are lighting fabric, paint chips, food, or anything where a customer judges color, specify a 90+ CRI MR16 instead; at 80 CRI reds in particular flatten out.
