1) Do I have to remove the ballast to install the Satco S11900 T5 LED?
Yes. The S11900 is a Type B, ballast bypass lamp, so the existing fluorescent ballast has to be removed or bypassed and line voltage wired directly to the sockets. It will not operate on an existing T5 fluorescent ballast. Plan on the fixture being rewired by an electrician before the lamp goes in.
2) What does double ended wiring mean for wiring this 2W T5 LED lamp?
Double ended means line goes to one end of the lamp and neutral to the other, so both sockets stay live with the ballast out of the circuit. That's different from single-ended lamps where both line and neutral land on the same end. If the fixture is rewired single-ended, the S11900 will not light.
3) Will the Satco S11900 drop into my existing T5 miniature bi-pin sockets?
The lamp uses a miniature bi-pin base, the standard G5 pin spacing on T5 fluorescent tubes, so it seats in the same lampholders. The socket fit is the easy part; the wiring is not. Because it is ballast bypass and double ended, the fixture has to be rewired to feed line and neutral to opposite ends before the lamp will work.
4) Can this 2 watt T5 LED run on 277 volt commercial circuits?
It is rated 120 to 277 volt, so it works on 120V, 208V, 240V and 277V circuits without a separate driver. That range covers most commercial and multi-family panels, which makes it easier to standardize one lamp across a building with mixed voltages.
5) How bright is the Satco S11900 and what kind of fixture is it meant for?
