Satco Lighting S8564 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the Satco S8564 A19 LED be used on a dimmer switch?
No. The S8564 is non-dimmable. Put it on a dimmer circuit and you can expect flicker, buzz, or early failure. If the fixture is on a wall dimmer, either swap the dimmer for a standard single-pole switch or order a dimmable A19 LED instead.
2) Will the S8564 work on 277V or on a 12V track circuit?
No. It is a 120 volt lamp only. Commercial 277V branch circuits and low-voltage 12V or 24V systems need lamps rated for those supplies. Check the fixture label before ordering for anything other than standard 120V line voltage.
3) Will a 2700K bulb match the warm white bulbs already in my building?
2700K is the warm, slightly yellow tone of a standard incandescent, so the S8564 blends with existing incandescent and warm white LED lamps. It will not match 3000K or 4000K lamps in the same fixture or the same sightline, those read noticeably cooler and the mismatch is obvious side by side. For a property standardizing one color temperature across units, 2700K is the residential-feel choice; 3500K to 4000K is the usual pick for corridors and back of house.
4) Is 90+ CRI worth it for apartment or hospitality lighting?
The S8564 is a 90+ CRI lamp, meaning colors render close to natural light. That matters in guest rooms, model units, retail displays, bathrooms and anywhere paint, fabric or skin tone is judged. Most commodity A19 LEDs sit around 80 CRI. For back of house, storage and mechanical rooms you will not see the benefit.
5) How many bulbs come in the Satco S8564 and what do I get per order unit?
S8564 ships as a 4-pack of frost-finish A19 lamps. Each lamp weighs 0.07 lb. Order quantity math is per 4-pack, so a 40-socket job is 10 packs.
6) Is the Satco S8564 frosted or clear, and does it hide the LED diodes?
Frost. The diffused envelope softens the output and keeps individual diodes from showing as hot spots, which is what you want in an open shade, a bare-socket ceiling fixture, or a table lamp where the bulb is visible. A clear filament-style lamp is the choice when you want the visible-filament look instead.
7) Can I use the S8564 in an enclosed ceiling fixture or a recessed can?
Enclosed and recessed use depends on the lamp being rated for it, and that rating is on Satco's spec sheet for S8564 rather than something to assume. What the lamp data does settle: it is a 120V, medium base, non-dimmable A19 at 12.5 watts, so if the fixture is a standard 120V medium-base housing on a non-dimmed switch leg, the electrical side fits.
