1) Will the Satco S8588 MR16 LED work in my existing 12V low voltage track heads?
No. The S8588 is a 120 volt lamp with a GU10 twist-lock base, so it goes straight into line voltage fixtures with no transformer. Standard 12V MR16 heads use a GU5.3 two-pin base and run off a magnetic or electronic transformer. If your fixture has a pin base and a transformer behind it, this lamp is the wrong part.
2) What color light does the Satco S8588 GU10 lamp put out?
2700K, which is the warm white end of the range, close to what an incandescent or halogen MR16 looked like. If you are relamping a room that still has halogen heads in it, 2700K will blend in rather than reading blue next to them.
3) Is a 40 degree beam angle right for general room lighting or accent lighting?
The S8588 runs a 40 degree beam, which is a flood pattern. It spreads wide enough for general downlighting, wall washing, and lighting a seating area or retail floor evenly. For tight accenting on artwork or a single display piece, a narrower spot beam concentrates the light better.
4) What halogen wattage does a 6.5W GU10 LED replace?
The S8588 draws 6.5 watts. GU10 halogen MR16 lamps were commonly 35W and 50W, so a 6.5W LED is the typical swap in that range and cuts the load substantially when you are relamping a whole run of track or recessed heads on one circuit.

No extra gear. The driver is built into the lamp and it runs on 120 volt line power through the GU10 base, so it drops into an existing line voltage MR16 head with nothing added.

Match on the Satco manufacturer part number S8588 and the four things printed on the lamp: 6.5W, 2700K, 40 degree beam, GU10 base at 120V. It ships in a white finish. If any of those differ from what is in the fixture, the beam spread or color will not match the rest of the run.
