1) Will the Schlage CS210-B60 interconnected lock fit my existing door prep, or do I have to re-bore?
The CS210-B60 is field configurable for either 4 inch or 5-1/2 inch center-to-center door prep, so one lock covers both of the common interconnected spacings without re-boring. Backset is 2-3/8 inches, which is the standard residential-style bore location, so on an apartment or condo entry door already prepped for an interconnected lock you are usually working with what is in the door. Check the center-to-center between the deadbolt bore and the latch bore before ordering, since that is the dimension the field adjustment covers.
2) Do I need to specify handing on a Schlage CS210 interconnected lock?
Mostly no. The CS210 is a non-handed lock, so the chassis works on either hand of door. The exception is the lever design: handing has to be called out for the Accent, Avanti, Champagne, Callington, Flair, Manhattan and St. Annes levers, because those shapes are hand-specific. Pick any of the other lever styles, Boardwalk, Broadway, Elan, Jazz, Jupiter, Latitude, Longitude, Merano, Neptune or Saturn, and handing never comes up.
3) How does an interconnected lock let people get out in an emergency without unlocking the deadbolt first?
That is the whole point of the interconnect. On the CS210-B60, turning the inside lever retracts the deadbolt and the latch together in one motion, so an occupant leaves without a separate thumbturn step. That single-motion egress is what life safety codes want on an apartment or dwelling-unit entry door, and it is why a separate knob-plus-deadbolt pair on the same door often fails inspection. From outside, the deadbolt is key operated; from inside it is a turn unit, and the bolt deadlocks automatically once fully thrown.

5) What cylinder do I order with the CS210-B60, and can I put it on my existing master key system?
Three cylinder choices. P gives you a conventional 6-pin cylinder in the C keyway with two keys included. J ships less an FSIC cylinder, so you supply your own full-size interchangeable core, the usual route when a property already runs an SFIC or FSIC system. L ships less a conventional cylinder for locksmiths keying to an existing conventional system. The lock accepts both interchangeable core and standard cylinders, so either direction works. Order keyed different for individual units or keyed alike when a set of doors should share one key.
6) Will the CS210 latch into the strike that is already in my frame?
The CS210-B60 ships with the 12-339 dual option latch, 1 inch by 2-1/4 inch face, square corner standard with a round corner faceplate also in the box, so it drops into either common frame prep. Strikes supplied are the 10-094 deadbolt strike, square corner, 1-1/8 inch by 2-3/4 inch, and the 10-096 deadlatch strike, square corner, full lip, no box, 1-5/8 inch by 2-1/4 inch. Compare those strike faces to what is mortised into your frame; if they match, you are swapping the lock only and leaving the frame alone.
7) I need credential access instead of keys on an apartment entry door - what interconnected lock should I use?
The CS210-B60 is a mechanical lock, keyed with a single cylinder and supplied with 2 keys, so it has no credential reader. For RFID credentials on the same style of opening, the Dormakaba Saffire LX-I is an electronic interconnected lockset with RFID and Bluetooth and a 3-hour fire rating, and the Dormakaba InSync RI5100G-26D is a battery operated interconnected cylindrical latch and deadbolt lock using electronic RFID keys, supplied with the Gala lever in satin chrome and right hand. The InSync unit is handed, so the door swing has to be confirmed before ordering; the CS210-B60 body is non-handed.
8) What is the closest mechanical alternative to the Schlage CS210-B60 interconnected entrance lock?
