1) Will the Schlage A53 entrance knob fit my existing door prep with a 2-3/8 inch backset?
The A53 entrance knob is built around a 2-3/8 inch backset, and it ships with the 11-085 deadlatch, a square corner front measuring 1 x 2-1/4 inches. If your door was bored for the other common commercial backset, 2-3/4 inches, this standard configuration will not line up and you need a 2-3/4 inch latch instead. The lock itself is non-handed, so left or right hand swing makes no difference to what you order.
2) Will the Schlage A53 latch into the strike plate already mortised into my frame?
The A53 comes with the 10-001 strike, a square corner T-strike measuring 1-1/8 x 2-3/4 inches with a 1-1/8 inch lip and a box.
