Yes. The 621GR EX is built for single gang mounting, so it drops into a standard single gang box or mud ring behind the door. The button itself is 1-1/4 inches, green, marked PUSH TO EXIT.
2) Can the Schlage 621GR EX switch a maglock circuit directly?
The contacts are rated 3A at 30 VDC in the standard momentary configuration, which covers the typical 12 or 24 VDC mag lock or strike circuit drawing well under that. If the load is higher, or you are switching AC, run the button through a relay instead of putting the lock current across the button.
3) What is the difference between the momentary, delayed action and alternate action options on this exit button?
Standard is momentary: the circuit is made only while someone holds the button. Delayed pneumatic action (DA) holds the circuit for an adjustable 0 to 60 seconds after the press, which is what you want to give someone time to get through the door. Alternate action (AA) is maintained, so one press latches it on and the next press releases it, useful for holding a door unlocked during business hours. All three carry the 3A at 30 VDC contact rating, and DA uses form Z contacts.
4) I need the exit button to release the lock and also signal the access control panel at the same time. Which version?
Take the DPDT option, double pole double throw. That gives you a second isolated set of contacts so one pole drops the lock and the other reports the request to exit back to the panel or shunts the alarm. Note DPDT cannot be combined with the delayed action option.
5) Will the 621GR EX fit a narrow stile aluminum door frame?
The standard 621GR EX is built for a single gang box, which is wider than most narrow stile frames allow. For that opening, order the narrow stile version, which uses a 1-3/4 inch by 4-1/2 inch stainless steel plate sized for the stile.
6) I need a bigger exit button for gloved hands than the 1-1/4 inch 621 - what should I order instead?
Within the same Schlage Electronics push button family, the 623 uses a 1-5/8 inch mushroom button and the 625 uses a 2-3/4 inch mushroom button, both with a stainless steel faceplate and translucent cone, where the 621GR EX uses the 1-1/4 inch button. For a high-abuse opening the 631 uses a 1-1/4 inch metal button with an extreme-duty zinc faceplate and a metal cone instead of the translucent cone.
7) The button has to hold the door released rather than just pulse it - is the standard 621GR EX the right choice?
The standard 621GR EX is a momentary contact rated 3A at 30 VDC, so it releases only while pressed. For a held release, the alternate action/maintained version stays in the switched state at 3A at 30 VDC until pressed again, and the delayed pneumatic action version holds the release for an adjustable 0 to 60 seconds on form Z contacts. If the circuit needs two independent switched paths, the DPDT version covers that, though DPDT and delayed action cannot be combined.
8) What voltage does the Schlage 621GR EX push button run on?
12 or 24 VDC. The illuminated LED is rated 12-24 VDC, drawing .025A at 28VDC, so it ties straight into the same low voltage supply feeding a strike or maglock.
