1) Will the Schlage L9093EL mortise lock still let people out if the power drops?
Egress is never affected. The inside lever on the L9092EU/L9093EL electrified mortise lock always retracts the latchbolt, powered or not, so it's free at all times for immediate egress. What power controls is the outside lever: on the EL (fail safe) setup, a switch or power failure leaves the outside lever able to retract the latchbolt, so the opening goes free on both sides. On the EU (fail secure) setup, losing power locks the outside lever and entry is by key only. The lock auto-detects 12 or 24V DC and EL/EU is customer selectable.
2) What door thickness does the Schlage L9000 electrified mortise lock fit?
It's built for 1-3/4 inch doors, the standard commercial thickness. The mortise case itself measures 4-7/16 x 6-1/16 x 1 inch, so the door has to be prepped for a full mortise pocket, not a bored cylindrical prep. Other door thicknesses are available as an ordering option on the L Series, but the base configuration is 1-3/4.
3) How much current does the L9092EU electrified mortise lock draw, and what power supply do I need?
400mA at 12 or 24V DC. The lock auto-detects the voltage, so a single power supply spec covers either, and you size the supply by multiplying 400mA by the number of locks on the circuit plus headroom. That's a motor-driven electrified lock, not a continuous-duty solenoid, which is why the L Series is described as energy efficient across a run of openings.
4) Is the Schlage L9093EL handed, or can I use the same lock on a left and right hand door?
Field reversible. One lock covers either hand, so an installer or a locksmith carrying stock doesn't need to know the handing before the truck rolls, and a property manager standardizing across a building orders one part number for every opening regardless of swing.
5) Will the Schlage L9092EU latch into the strike that's already in my frame?

6) Can I key the Schlage L9000 mortise lock into my existing master key system?
It's a single cylinder keyed function and comes standard with a conventional 6-pin cylinder in the S123 keyway. Order keyed different or keyed alike, and there's a free-text field for special cylinder or keying requirements if you're pinning into an existing system. If your locksmith is supplying the cylinders, order the L option (less conventional cylinder) and drop in your own; the P option is the 6-pin conventional cylinder in the C keyway. Interchangeable core cylinders drop the security rating to Grade 2. A UL437 listed cylinder is available by specifying a Primus 20-500 Series.
7) Is the Schlage L Series electrified mortise lock fire rated and ADA compliant?
Grade 1 under ANSI/BHMA A156.13 for both security and operational, and UL listed for 3-hour fire doors (the exceptions in the family are the L9076 and L9077). UL/cUL listing covers A label single doors up to 4 by 10 feet and pairs up to 8 by 10 feet, and the letter F with the UL symbol on the latch front is how you verify it on the job. It meets ADA requirements, and levers with a return to door of 1/2 inch or less comply with the California Referenced Standards Code. 8) What's the difference between EL and EU on a Schlage electrified mortise lock, and which one do I want?
Both control the outside lever with 12 or 24V DC; the difference is what happens when the power goes. EL is fail safe: kill the power and the outside lever retracts the latchbolt, so the door goes free. That's what you want on a stair door or an opening that has to release on a fire alarm.
