    1) What backset and strike does the Schlage ND10 come with, and will it drop into my existing prep?

    9) The door is a bathroom and needs to lock from inside - what replaces a passage lever there?
    A passage lever such as the Schlage ND10 keeps both levers unlocked at all times, so it cannot secure a restroom or bedroom. Use a privacy function instead: the Hager 2540 is a Grade 2 privacy cylindrical lock with the Withnell lever for 1-3/8 inch to 2 inch doors, and the Arrow MK02-TA is a Grade 1 privacy cylindrical lock with a Tudor knob, fire rated, for 1-3/4 inch to 2 inch doors.     10) What lever designs and finishes can I get on the Schlage ND10 passage lock?
    Nine lever designs: Athens, Boardwalk, Broadway, Latitude, Longitude, Omega, Rhodes, Sparta and Tubular. Ten finishes: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 612 satin bronze, 613 oil rubbed bronze, 619 satin nickel, 622 matte black, 625 bright chrome, 626 satin chrome, 626AM satin chrome antimicrobial, and 643E aged bronze. The 626AM is the one to look at for healthcare openings. Match the lever and finish to whatever ND locks are already on the other doors and the passage openings will read the same as the keyed ones.
    11) How do I get a door position or request to exit signal on a passage opening?
    The ND10 is available with a Request to Exit (RX) function, and Schlage sells the Request To Exit Switch as an ND Series part, so you can signal an access control panel or alarm when the inside lever is turned even though the door itself never locks. The base ND10 is purely mechanical with no electronics in it.
    12) I need a lever on a door that does not latch at all, just a pull. Is the ND10 what I want?
    No. The ND10 has a working latch on a 2-3/4 inch backset and is meant to hold a door closed. For a lever that just mounts to the face of an inactive leaf or a false door, you want a dummy trim instead: the BEST 9K Series 1DT is the Grade 1 heavy duty single dummy, the BEST 7KC Series 1DT is the Grade 2 version, and the Accentra 455LN Augusta is a Grade 1 single dummy lever.
    13) Can I convert a Schlage ND10 passage lock to a keyed lock later?
    Not by adding a cylinder to an ND10 chassis, because a passage lock has no cylinder position. What you can do is swap the whole lock without touching the door: every ND Series function shares the common cylindrical ANSI 161 prep, so an ND50 entrance, ND70 classroom or ND80 storeroom goes into the same hole with the same lever and finish. That is why a lot of buyers run ND10 on the doors that do not need to lock today and keep the option open.
    14) Does the Schlage ND10 meet Florida and Miami-Dade hurricane requirements?

      I got the Schlage ND10 Passage Latch for my office and it's been smooth sailing since. The lever feels sturdy and works great without a key. Installation was a bit tricky, though. Overall, solid choice for a non-keyed lock.
