1) What is the difference between the 1-pole and 2-pole versions of the 2510FG starter?
Pole count decides how many current-carrying conductors the toggle breaks. The 1-pole version (2510FG1P) switches one leg, which suits 120 V single-phase loads where the neutral stays connected. The 2-pole versions (2510FG2 and 2510FG2P) break both legs, which is what you want on a 240 V single-phase motor where neither conductor is grounded. All are non-reversing.
2) Does the 2510FG starter come with the overload heater, or do I order it separately?
The 2510FG uses a melting alloy thermal overload. The alloy thermal unit is sized to the motor's full load amps, so you select and add the correct thermal unit for your motor; the starter body itself is sized to a 16 A line rating. Have the motor nameplate FLA in hand before you pick the heater.
3) After the 2510FG trips on overload, does it restart the motor by itself?
No, reset is manual. The melting alloy unit holds the starter tripped until somebody goes to the enclosure and resets it, so the motor will not restart unattended after an overload. That is the behavior you want on pumps, fans and machinery where an automatic restart is a hazard.
4) Is a manual starter like the 2510FG the right choice, or do I need a magnetic starter?
Use the 2510FG where an operator throws the toggle at the equipment and you want overload protection with a manual reset, typical for exhaust fans, small pumps and machinery. Go to a magnetic starter instead if you need remote start/stop pushbuttons, thermostat or float switch control, or low-voltage dropout so the motor does not restart on its own when power returns. The 2510FG has no coil, so it stays closed through a power interruption.
5) What does the red pilot light option on the 2510FG add, and which part numbers have it?
The pilot light gives a visual indication at the starter that the circuit is energized, useful when the motor itself is out of sight or in another room. Order 2510FG1P (1-pole) or 2510FG2P (2-pole) for the red pilot light. 2510FG2 is the 2-pole without it.
6) What conduit sizes can I land on the Schneider 2510FG, and top or bottom entry?
Knock-outs are provided for both 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch conduit, on the top and the bottom of the enclosure, so you can feed in and out from either direction. Conductors terminate on screw clamp terminals.
7) Can I use the 2510FG as a reversing starter for a motor that needs to run both directions?
No. The 2510FG is a non-reversing manual starter, so it can only switch the motor on and off in one direction. Reversing a single-phase motor requires a reversing starter or drum switch wired to swap the start winding leads.
8) Is the Schneider 2510FG RoHS compliant for a European installation?
It is not EU RoHS compliant, and the reference contains Substances of Very High Concern above the REACH threshold.
