Metallics JTEKS15SS – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Do I need to pre-drill before driving the Metallics JTEKS15SS screw?
No. It is a self-drilling screw, so the drill point forms its own hole as you drive it. That is the practical difference from a self-tapping screw, which still wants a pilot hole in metal.
2) How many screws come in a jar of Metallics JTEKS15SS?
Each jar holds 100 screws. The packaging is a jar rather than a bulk box, which is what keeps #10 self-drillers sorted on a service truck or in a shop drawer.
3) Will a Phillips bit drive the Metallics JTEKS15SS, or do I need a square drive?
Phillips. The JTEKS15SS has a Phillips recess, so a standard Phillips bit in a screw gun drives it. No square or hex driver needed.
4) Is the Metallics JTEKS15SS sold in more than one size or finish?
The JTEKS15SS is a single configuration: #10 x 1-1/4 inch, pan head Phillips, self-drilling, packed 100 to a jar. There are no length, head, or drive options to pick on this one, so ordering it is just a matter of quantity of jars.
