2) Will a 1200 lb maglock fit under the shallow header on a narrow frame aluminum entrance?
That is the case the SDC 350 Series was built for. It projects 2-11/16 inches into the opening, where a conventional surface maglock housing runs up to 3.5 inches. On a storefront or glass front entrance with a narrow stile and a shallow header, those extra inches are what force a filler plate or a visible box over the door. Measure the depth you have to work with against 2-11/16 inches. If the header is deeper than that and looks are not a concern, a standard-profile maglock will do the same job.
3) What happens to the SDC 350 electromagnetic lock when the power drops?
It releases and the door is free. The 350 Series is fail-safe, and there is no battery inside the lock, so it holds only while it is energized. Cut power at the fire alarm interface, hit a release button, or lose the building supply, and the magnet lets go. That is inherent to how an electromagnetic lock works, not a shortcoming of this one.
