1) Does the Securitron EEB emergency exit button work with a 12V maglock, or do I need 24V?
The EEB runs on either 12 or 24 VDC, but it has to match the voltage of the lock it releases. Draw is 226 mA peak at 12 VDC and 118 mA peak at 24 VDC, so size the supply accordingly. One wiring detail catches people out: the red and white wires from the EEB2 or EEB3N must be fed from the same power supply, not two separate ones.
2) Which Securitron EEB do I order for a narrow stile aluminum storefront door frame?
The EEB3N is the narrow stile version and ships with switchable green and red lenses. The EEB2 is the single gang version and comes with three interchangeable lenses, green, red, and a blue ADA/handicap symbol. Both carry the same 30 second timer and the same SPDT relay, so the choice is purely the mounting opening and whether you want the ADA lens option.
3) Will an emergency exit button satisfy code when I use a motion sensor for request to exit?

Securitron does offer WCC and WBB weather options for single gang push buttons, keyswitches and keypads, so the single gang EEB2 can be weather-housed; the narrow stile EEB3N is not a single gang device and that option does not apply to it.
7) What is the closest equivalent to a Securitron EEB2 emergency exit button from another manufacturer?
The ACSI 1320-1-MOM-ER pushbutton switch is marked "Emergency Release" and is the nearest labeled emergency-release pushbutton to the EEB2. 11) What is the difference between an emergency exit button and a standard request to exit push button?

13) Can I add illumination to an EEB button I already have installed, or do I have to replace it?
Securitron sells the lens kits separately. The PB2-LK illumination kit fits the EEB2 series along with the PB2E and PB5E push buttons, and the PB3-LK green and red kit fits the EEB3N and PB3E series. So a button already in the wall can be upgraded, but the kits are model specific, the single gang kit does not fit the narrow stile button.
14) What is a narrow stile alternative to the Securitron EEB3N exit switch?
For a narrow aluminum stile where the EEB3N does not suit, the Trine 342 narrow style electric door switch is a narrow profile option. It is a plain switch though, not a timed emergency release, so it does not give you the 30 second retriggerable release the EEB3N provides as backup to a motion exit sensor. Another route on a mortise prep is a keyswitch such as the ACSI 1310-1, or for a labelled release the ACSI 1320-1-MOM-ER pushbutton marked Emergency Release.
15) Is the Securitron EEB a maintained switch that stays latched until reset?
No, it is momentary with a timer. Press it once and it releases the door for 30 seconds, then restores. If your application needs the door to stay released until somebody deliberately resets it, a maintained device is the right call, for example the RCI 908 Series electronic exit button with red EXIT text and maintained operation, or the RCI 919 Series rotary release with maintained operation in satin aluminum.
16) Is an RCI 908 exit button the same thing as a Securitron EEB?
They are not interchangeable in specification. The RCI 908-RE-MA is an electronic exit button with red EXIT text and maintained operation - maintained means the contact stays transferred until the button is reset. The EEB is momentary: pressing it once releases the door for 30 seconds and it is retriggerable. On an opening where a maintained button would hold the lock released until someone returns to it, the EEB times itself out instead.
17) We want an ADA push plate at the door - can I use one in place of the EEB2 handicap lens?
They serve different roles. The RCI 950HP is a round push plate with a handicap symbol, a momentary switch in satin stainless steel, sized to be struck as an actuator. The EEB2 is a single gang push button whose kit includes switchable green, red and blue ADA lenses, so the handicap symbol appears as a lit lens on the button rather than as a large plate. If the requirement is a plate someone can hit with a forearm or wheelchair, that is a push plate; if the requirement is an identified emergency exit button with a timed release, that is the EEB2.
18) What should I specify for a large actuator on a door where people have their hands full?
