This concealed Magnalock is ideal for traffic control or medium security and with its flexible mounting options solutions the most challenging door control situations. The Securitron SAM Shear Aligning Magnalock has mounting options for a single door or each leaf on a pair of doors and can be on a sliding, in-swing, out-swing or swing-through door. It mounts fully concealed into wood, steel, aluminum or latching in any position; at the header, door edge or threshold.

1) What is the Securitron SEP-4 used for?
The SEP-4 is a mounting hardware pack for the Securitron SAM Shear Aligning Magnalock. The SAM itself mounts fully concealed into wood, steel or aluminum openings, and Securitron offers hardware accessories, including mounting brackets, to configure the lock for different opening types. The SEP-4 is one of those accessory packs, not the Magnalock itself, so the lock body is ordered separately.
2) Will the SAM Magnalock hardware work on an out-swing door or a sliding door?
Yes. The Securitron SAM Shear Aligning Magnalock has mounting options for sliding, in-swing, out-swing and swing-through doors, and it can be installed at the header, the door edge or the threshold. That is why the mounting hardware is sold as separate packs, such as the SEP-4, rather than one universal bracket set.
3) Can the SAM Magnalock be used on a pair of doors?
Yes. Securitron provides mounting options for a single door or for each leaf on a pair of doors, so a pair is locked by fitting a shear lock to each leaf rather than relying on a mullion.
4) How is the SAM Magnalock hardware fastened, and will it hold up outdoors?
Mounting is by steel machine screws, and all ferrous metal surfaces are plated to MIL specification. The lock's electronics are fully sealed for tamper and weather resistance, which is what lets it go into exterior and threshold locations.
5) Is the Securitron SAM shear lock suitable for a high security opening?
The SAM concealed Magnalock is aimed at traffic control and medium security applications. For higher security you would step up to a heavier direct-pull magnetic lock or a mechanical locking device. The SAM is UL Listed, uses a patented instant release circuit with no residual magnetism, and runs automatic dual voltage with no field adjustment.
6) Do I need to run separate wire to the SAM Magnalock?
The lock ships with ten feet (3.05 m) of jacketed, stranded conductor, so short runs from the lock to a junction point are covered. Longer runs back to the power supply or access control panel are field wiring you supply. Options include the BondSTAT magnetic bond sensor and an integrated door position switch, which add monitoring conductors to plan for.
7) What finish does the Securitron SEP-4 SAM hardware pack come in?
Satin stainless steel only, which is the architectural brushed stainless finish Securitron designates US32D/630. That matches the standard SAM Magnalock finish, so the exposed hardware blends with the lock and with other 630 door hardware on the opening.
