2) Can I install a SL57 geared hinge on an existing door and frame without replacing them?

5) Is the SL57 hinge ADA compliant?
No. The SL57 is not an ADA compliant hinge, so if the opening has to meet ADA requirements it is not the right selection. It is a heavy duty full surface geared continuous hinge intended for high traffic durability.
6) Should I use a continuous geared hinge or standard butt hinges on a high traffic entry door?
Butt hinges carry the door's weight at two to four points, which is where sag, screw pull-out and racked frames start on an entrance that cycles all day. A geared continuous hinge like the SL57 runs the full height of the door and spreads that load along the entire edge.
