1) Can the SharkBite UXL8 elbow connect PEX to copper, or does it need the same pipe on both ends?
The UXL8 large-diameter 90-degree elbow joins PEX, copper, CPVC, PE-RT, or HDPE in any combination, so you can run copper into one end and PEX out the other with no adapter. It's a push-to-connect joint, no solder, glue, clamps or unions.
2) Do I need a stiffener when pushing a SharkBite UXL8 elbow onto PEX?
Yes. Connecting to PEX requires a stiffener matched to the fitting size: SBTL35 for 1-1/4 inch, SBTL41 for 1-1/2 inch, SBTL54 for 2 inch. Copper, CPVC, and PE-RT connections do not take a stiffener. The stiffener is a separate item, so order it with the elbow.
3) Can a SharkBite UXL8 push-fit elbow be buried underground or closed up behind drywall?
Both are approved uses. The UXL8 elbow is rated for underground and behind-the-wall installation with no access panel required. If you bury it, the fitting has to be wrapped. The low-lead DZR brass body is corrosion resistant, which is why it holds up in those concealed locations.
4) How do you remove a SharkBite UXL8 elbow if the alignment is wrong?
The fitting rotates after it's pushed on, so minor alignment changes don't require pulling it off.
