Red Dot DALL-3-CG – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can I use the DALL-3-CG with EMT, or does it have to be rigid conduit?
It's built for rigid and IMC conduit, with threaded hubs. EMT uses setscrew or compression fittings, not threads, so it is not a match here. For a 1 inch EMT run you need an EMT-style conduit body or a threaded adapter at the EMT end.
2) Does the Red Dot DALL-3-CG come with a cover and gasket, or do I order those separately?
Cover and gasket are included. The -CG suffix on the DALL-3-CG means it ships with the cover and the gasket, so you don't need to add a separate cover kit to close the body out.
3) I'm replacing a 1 inch LL conduit body on an existing run. Will the DALL-3-CG drop straight in?
If what's coming off the wall is a 1 inch threaded LL body on rigid or IMC, yes, the DALL-3-CG threads onto the same conduit ends. Confirm the handing before you order: the existing body has to be LL (opening left as you face the cover), not LR or LB, or the cover will land facing the wrong direction.
4) Is the DALL-3-CG suitable for outdoor or wet location conduit runs?
The gasketed cover is what makes it usable in damp and wet exterior runs, since the gasket seals the cover to the die cast aluminum body. Keep the gasket seated and the cover screws snug on reinstall, and pitch the run so water isn't standing in the body.
5) What is the Red Dot DALL-3-CG made of, and will it corrode on a coastal or wash-down job?
Die cast aluminum. That's the standard choice for exterior and industrial conduit bodies because it won't rust like steel, but aluminum does react with masonry, concrete and chlorides. In salt-air or chemical wash-down areas, specify a PVC-coated or non-metallic body instead.
6) Why would I use a conduit body like this instead of just bending the conduit?
An LL body such as the DALL-3-CG gives you a removable gasketed cover at the turn, so you have a pull point for fishing conductors and a place to inspect later. A field bend gets you around the corner but leaves no access, which matters on long runs where you need to pull wire through multiple changes of direction.
7) What is the manufacturer part number for the Red Dot 1 inch LL conduit body with cover and gasket?
Order it as Red Dot DALL-3-CG. That part number covers the 1 inch LL body in die cast aluminum with the cover and gasket in the box.
