1) Which wire gauge should I order, GSC 12 or GSC 14?
Match the pigtail to the branch circuit's equipment ground. GSC 12 carries a No.12 AWG pigtail, GSC 14 a No.14 AWG pigtail. On a 20 amp circuit wired in 12 AWG use the GSC 12; on a 15 amp circuit in 14 AWG the GSC 14 is the match. Those are the only two gauges offered.
2) Will the GSC grounding screw thread into my existing metal outlet box?
It's built for the tapped 10-32 ground hole found in the back of standard steel boxes, plaster rings and mud rings. If the box you're working in has no tapped ground hole, or it's a nonmetallic box, you'll need a ground clip or a screw-and-clip assembly instead.
3) What is the Steel City GSC grounding screw with pigtail used for?
It's a green grounding screw that comes with a bonding pigtail already attached. The screw threads into the tapped ground hole in a metal box or device ring, and the pigtail wire lands on the device ground terminal or ties into the ground splice. It saves you cutting and stripping a separate bonding jumper on every box.
4) Is the pigtail wire on the Steel City GSC insulated or bare?
The pigtail is uninsulated, so it's a bare bonding conductor. If your inspector or spec requires a green insulated ground jumper inside the box, this isn't the part. Bare is normal and acceptable for equipment bonding jumpers inside a metallic enclosure.
5) Are Steel City GSC grounding screws made in the USA?
Country of origin is the United States, which matters if you're buying for a government, institutional or federally funded project with domestic sourcing requirements. Material is steel.
