Both sides work. The DC9016 mounts regular arm (pull side), top jamb, or parallel arm, which covers push side applications. Parallel arm is the usual choice when you need the closer body out of the way on the push side of an out-swinging exterior door; top jamb suits storefront and narrow-top-rail conditions where the body goes on the frame face.

Grade 1 to ANSI A156.4, tested to 2 million cycles, and UL listed. That is the spec level a school, hospital, or municipal facility standardizes on for high-traffic openings, so it satisfies a Grade 1 line item on a hardware schedule.

Fasteners supplied with the DC9016 cover aluminum, hollow metal, and wood doors and frames, so one part number handles a storefront leaf, a hollow metal fire door frame, and a wood interior door. For glass front installers that means no separate sex-bolt or machine-screw pack to chase down for a standard aluminum install.

Three independent valves plus spring power. Sweep and latch speed are separately adjustable, so a door that slams gets the sweep slowed and a door that stalls short of the strike gets the latch speed increased. Backcheck is also adjustable, which is what protects the door and frame when someone throws it open in the wind. If the leaf still won't close against stack pressure after the valves are set, step the spring power up within the 1 to 6 range.

Maximum door opening is 180 degrees, so the closer itself won't limit swing on an opening with clear wall space. Note the arm supplied is an adjustable extension arm, not a hold-open arm, so it will not park the door open. If you need hold-open, that is a different arm option.
