Metallics 1507B Toggle Bolts 3/16" #10 Lgt 4" (Jar 1000)

The Metallics 1507B is a 3/16 inch toggle bolt with a #10 wing (light duty) toggle and a 4 inch bolt length. The 3/16 diameter is the machine screw size that threads into the spring wing.

With a 4 inch bolt, the 1507B gives you a long grip range, so it works where you are fastening through thick or furred-out hollow wall assemblies, layered drywall, or a fixture canopy stacked on top of the board. On a single layer of 1/2 inch drywall the extra length just means the toggle sits well behind the board before you draw it up, and any surplus thread simply stays inside the cavity.

They ship 1000 pieces to a jar. That is a bulk contractor pack, not a retail card of a few, so it suits an electrical crew hanging boxes, straps, or fixture supports across a whole job rather than a one-off repair.

Yes. A spring-wing toggle needs a hole large enough to pass the folded wings through the wall, which is always bigger than the 3/16 inch screw itself. Drill the hole, fold the wings flat, push them through until they snap open behind the board, then pull back and tighten. That also means the 1507B cannot be removed and reused: back the screw out and the toggle drops into the cavity.

Use the toggle where the load is real and the wall is hollow. A 3/16 inch toggle like the 1507B spreads its load across the back of the board on two spring wings, which is what you want under a fixture, a strut hanger, or a box that has weight on it. A self-drilling plastic or zinc anchor bears only on the drywall face and is fine for light trim or a cover plate. If you can hit a stud or steel framing, a screw into the framing member beats both.

Only where there is an open cavity behind the face shell for the wings to spring into, such as hollow block with clean cells. In solid concrete or grouted block there is no void, so the toggle has nothing to open against; use a sleeve anchor, wedge anchor, or a screw anchor for masonry instead. The 1507B is a hollow-wall fastener.
