Mustee T6030L – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the Mustee T6030L Topaz tub have a left or right drain?
Left hand drain. Stand at the open side of the tub facing the wall the tub sits against, and the drain end is on your left. Get this wrong and the rough-in waste line lands at the wrong end of the alcove, which is the most common reason a tub gets sent back. If your existing waste is at the other end, you want the right hand version of the Topaz instead.
2) What size alcove does the Mustee T6030L Topaz bathtub fit?
The Topaz T6030L is a 30 by 60 inch tub, which is the standard alcove footprint for a three-wall recess in North American residential and multi-family construction. If you are replacing an existing 60 inch alcove tub, the opening does not change; the thing to confirm is the drain end, since the T6030L drains at the left.
3) Does the Mustee T6030L Topaz tub come with a drain, waste and overflow, or faucet?
The T6030L ships as the tub only. Waste and overflow, the drain assembly, the tub filler and the shower valve are all separate line items, so budget them into the same order or the job stops at set day. Confirm your waste and overflow kit is sized for the fiberglass wall thickness at the drain end.
4) Is the Mustee Topaz tub fiberglass or acrylic, and does that matter for a rental turn?
Fiberglass. For property managers turning units, that is the practical trade: fiberglass is light enough for two people to carry up a stairwell and set in an alcove without rigging, which is why it is the usual choice for apartment and multi-family replacements. Acrylic and cast iron units in the same 60 inch footprint feel more solid underfoot but cost you handling on the job.
5) What is the manufacturer part number for the Mustee left hand 30x60 Topaz tub?
T6030L is the Mustee part number. The T6030 designates the Topaz 30 by 60 tub and the L suffix is the left hand drain. Order it by that full number, since the drain hand is carried entirely in the last character.
6) Is the Mustee Topaz T6030L a soaking tub or a whirlpool?
Straight soaking tub, no jets, no pump, no electrical rough-in. That keeps the install to plumbing only: waste and overflow, supply, and the wall finish. If the spec on the drawing calls for a jetted unit, this is not the part.
