Trimco 1082 Cylindrical Lock Guard, 4"-6" Sizes

The 1082 Series lock guard is built for 2-3/4 inch backset bored cylindrical locks, which is the standard commercial backset. It is universal to all bored commercial locksets at that backset. If your door is prepped at a 2-3/8 inch backset, which is the common residential bore, this is not the guard for it.

No extra drilling for through bolts. The 1082 uses simple door prep and mounts without adding through-bolt holes, which is why it goes on existing doors as easily as new ones. Retrofit and new construction both.

No handing to specify. The 1082 guards are non-handed for cylindrical locks, so the same part works on a left or right hand door. You only choose size and finish.

Two standard sizes, 4 inch and 6 inch, each in 629 bright stainless steel or 630 satin stainless steel. 630 satin is the usual match for commercial door hardware; 629 is the polished look. Trimco also makes other sizes, including an 1082-8, plus custom versions for electronic locks.

Yes, the 1082-6 SP. It adds two 1/4-20 studs near the door edge on top of the standard mounting, which resists prying harder than the plain 6 inch plate. Trimco also offers the guards with studs welded to the back.

The 1082 is 1/8 inch thick Type 316 stainless steel, the most corrosion resistant stainless grade Trimco offers. That is the grade you want on exterior openings, loading docks, and salt air locations where 304 would eventually tea-stain.

It can. Trimco custom fits the 1082 to many alarm and security locksets, and custom versions are made for electronic locks. The standard 4 inch and 6 inch plates are cut for conventional bored cylindrical trim, so an electronic lock with a larger escutcheon needs the custom cutout rather than the stock plate.

Both cover the same 2-3/4 inch backset cylindrical prep, so the choice is how much of the lock area and door edge you want shielded. The 4 inch is the minimum plate around the bore; the 6 inch gives more coverage against pry attack and is the size that has the SP high-security option with the added 1/4-20 edge studs. On high-traffic or high-risk openings, government, military, hospitality and multifamily entries, the 6 inch is the one most fleets settle on.
