Trimco 1082-6S Cylindrical Lock Guard, 6" with Welded Thru-Bolt Studs

No handing to specify. The 1082 Series lock guards are non-handed for cylindrical locks, so the same part works on either swing. One less thing to get wrong on a multi-door order.

The S means the thru-bolt studs are welded to the back of the plate. Instead of loose fasteners, the studs come off the guard and pass through the door, so the guard cannot be pried off from the outside. Trimco also offers the 1082 guards without the welded studs.

No extra drilling for the through bolts. The 1082 Series uses the existing lockset through-bolt holes, so door prep is simple and it goes on retrofit doors as easily as new construction.

It is a steel plate that covers the outside of a bored lockset so a pry bar or wrench cannot get at the lock body and rose. On the 1082, the plate is 1/8 inch thick stainless steel and protects the lock from vandalism and forced entry. Common on exterior and service doors in commercial and industrial buildings, government and military facilities, hospitality, multifamily, and offices.

Both are standard sizes in the 1082 Series, and the 6 inch covers more of the lock area around the rose. Trimco also builds other sizes, including an 8 inch, plus custom versions cut for electronic locks. Pick by how much of the lock face and surrounding stile you want shielded on the opening.

Yes, but it is a custom order. The standard 1082-6S is cut for bored cylindrical locks; Trimco makes custom versions for electronic locks and can custom fit the guard to many alarm or security locksets. Have the lock model in hand when you specify it.

Yes. The 1082-6 SP adds two 1/4-20 studs near the door edge on top of the standard thru-bolt attachment, which resists prying at the edge where a bar would be worked in. If the opening has a history of forced entry attempts, that is the one to specify.

The 1082 Series is listed as ADA compliant, so the guard itself does not put the opening out of compliance. It mounts flat over the lock and does not change how the lever is operated.
