Yes, one of the three build options for the LDH100 one-touch lockdown is made for Von Duprin 98/99 and 33/35 series devices. The other two are built for Precision Apex 2000 series and DORMA 9000 series devices. You pick the device series when you order, so match it to what's actually on the door, since the mechanism mounts to the end cap of that specific device family.
2) How does a teacher lock down a classroom door with the Trimco LDH100 without a key?
You push the button on the end cap of the exit device from inside the room and the device locks immediately. No key, no hex wrench, nothing to fetch from an office. That is the whole point of the LDH100: the person in the room can secure the opening in one motion while the exit device still lets everyone out from the inside.
3) Do I have to take the panic bar off the door to install a Trimco LDH100 lockdown?

5) Can I use the Trimco LDH100 on a Precision Apex exit device, or is that a different part than the Von Duprin one?
Different part. The Precision Apex 2000 series build and the Von Duprin 98/99 and 33/35 build are separate orderable options, not one universal kit. Same for DORMA 9000. If a building has mixed panic hardware, you order a lockdown per device family and count your doors accordingly.
6) Is the Trimco LDH100 lockdown ADA compliant for a classroom door?
The LDH100 is stated as ADA compliant. It operates by pushing a button on the end cap rather than by turning a key or a wrench, so no tight grasping or twisting is needed to secure the door.
7) What finishes does the Trimco LDH100 come in so it matches the exit devices already in my building?
Six finishes: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 625 bright chrome, 626 satin chrome, 690 duranodic bronze, and RPC red powder coat. All six are offered on each of the three device-series builds. The red powder coat is the one to reach for when you want the lockdown button visually obvious for staff during a drill rather than blended into the hardware.
8) Should I add a mechanical lockdown like the Trimco LDH100 or go with an electrified exit device?
The LDH100 is the mechanical, aftermarket route: no wiring, no power, no access control head end, and it goes onto exit devices already hanging in the opening. An electrified device locks down from a central command but requires a new device, power to the door, and the infrastructure behind it. If the goal is giving the person inside the room the ability to lock the door instantly, and the budget is per-door rather than per-building, the mechanical lockdown is the one that fits. If you need a whole campus locked from one console, it is not.
9) Is the Trimco LDH100 rated for commercial school and government door use?
It's a commercial-duty part, built die-cast, and Trimco calls out K-12 schools, colleges and universities, healthcare, government facilities, public buildings and hospitality as its applications. Perimeter doors and classrooms are the typical placements.
10) I need a small replacement part for a Von Duprin exit device trim, not a lockdown. What is that?
The LDH100 is a lockdown mechanism, not a trim repair part. For a Von Duprin lever trim that has gone loose or free-spinning on a 371, 373, 375 or 378 trim, the part is the Von Duprin 50602 lever shaft lock. Two different problems: the LDH100 adds a lockdown function to a working device, the 50602 repairs the lever trim's shaft.
