Trimco UFP Series Ultimate Foot Pull

The UFP mounts low on the door so the user hooks a foot into the pull and swings the door open, no hand contact at all. It's the standard fix for pull-side restroom doors, where the handle is the last thing a person touches after washing. Trimco lists it for commercial and industrial buildings, government and military facilities, hospitality, hospitals and health care, and restaurants.

It's built for exactly that. The UFP is thru-bolted rather than surface screwed, so kick loads go through the door instead of into a few screw threads, and the body is marine grade stainless steel. Trimco rates it commercial, not residential. Marine grade stainless is the material choice that matters in a wet restroom environment where a plated finish would eventually break down.

Two sex bolts and a wood screw ship with the foot pull, plus two rubber bumpers that keep the pull from marking the wall when the door swings back. The sex bolts are what make it a thru-bolt install, so the door has to be drilled through. Nothing else is included, so if your door needs a different fastener than a wood screw at the third point, source that separately.

No. The UFP is thru-bolted and ships with sex bolts, which means holes all the way through the door leaf. If you can't drill through, this isn't the part. That rules it out on most fire rated door assemblies without the manufacturer's approval, and on hollow metal doors you'll want to confirm what's behind the skin at the mounting height.

If you're specifying the door's main pull, or need an offset or 45 degree grip, look at the Ives 8145EZ or 8169 instead.

Three: 316S satin stainless steel, 622 matte black, and 710CU Healthy Hardware Steralloy Silver. The 316S is the default match for stainless push plates and pulls already on most commercial restroom doors. The 710CU Steralloy is the one to specify in healthcare or food service where an antimicrobial surface is part of the spec. Trimco will quote other finishes on request.

Nothing in the door pull range from ABH, Ives, Deltana, Cal-Royal or Emtek is a foot pull. Those are all hand-height pulls: the Ives 8102HD and 8103HD straight bars, ABH AB3300 and AB3310 flat end pulls, Deltana's back-to-back offsets, Emtek's decorative 8 inch pulls. If the requirement on the drawing is hands-free restroom egress, the UFP is the part to order, not a substitute pull.

If those plates are satin stainless, the 316S satin stainless steel UFP is the finish to order and it will read as the same family across the fleet. For a facility standardizing on black hardware, the 622 matte black covers it. Both are stainless bodied, so you're not mixing a plated part in with solid stainless trim.

A door needing both keyed entry and hands free egress takes two separate items.

Those are hand pulls carrying a heavy duty designation for traffic; the UFP is the hands free addition at the restroom.

Leave them on. The UFP projects off the face of the door and swings into the adjacent wall on an out-swinging restroom door. The two rubber bumpers ship with it and are what stop the pull gouging the wall finish. On a door that opens into a corridor with a wall stop already, they still take the first contact.
