Trine 206-2 - Motion Alert Annunciator, Battery Operated

The 206-2 works off reflected light, not a beam you have to align or a contact on the door. Moving objects are picked up as changes in reflected light, so it chimes when someone crosses in front of it. That makes it a presence alert for a doorway, counter, or back hallway rather than a door-position switch, so it will announce anyone passing the unit whether or not the door itself moves.

No wiring at all. The 206-2 runs on two C cells, and those batteries are not included, so add a pair to the order. Because there is no transformer or low-voltage run to pull, it goes up in a leased suite or an older building where you cannot open a wall, and it keeps working when the power drops.

Two volume levels plus off, measured at 3 feet: 77db on low and 84db on high. Low suits a small front office or a dental waiting room where a full chime would carry through the walls. High is the setting for a shop floor, a stockroom, or a counter with background noise. The off position on the same switch silences it without pulling the batteries.

The 206-2 is a self-contained battery annunciator: it detects motion and sounds one of its three tones locally. It has no wired output to feed a panel, a relay, or a monitoring station, so if you need a motion event reported back to a system, specify a wired sensor and a relay module instead. For staff notification at a single opening, the 206-2 handles it on its own with two C cells.

Three tones are selectable: an 8 note melody, a 2 note repeated tone, and a 2 note alternating tone. That matters when you run more than one alert in the same building, because you can set a different tone at the back entrance than at the front counter and know by ear which one tripped.

Commercial. The 206-2 is a commercial-duty motion alert annunciator, which is what puts it in a retail entry, a self-storage office, or a clinic reception rather than a house. It is an announcement device, so it tells staff someone has arrived; it does not lock, latch, or control the door.

Nothing about the 206-2 goes into the door. It is a battery-powered annunciator in a 3-1/6 x 4-3/8 x 2-3/8 inch plastic case that senses motion by reflected light, so it mounts near the opening rather than being prepped into the door or frame. On an aluminum-and-glass front where you will not cut the stile or run a wire, that is the point of it. Keep it aimed so the traffic path crosses its field, since it responds to movement in front of the unit and not to the door leaf itself.

The case measures 3-1/6 x 4-3/8 x 2-3/8 inches in a white moulded plastic housing. That is a small enough footprint to sit on a door frame face, a trim board, or a shelf edge at a reception counter, and the white case blends with typical painted trim rather than standing out the way a metal enclosure does.

One model, the 206-2, so there is no handing, voltage, or finish decision to make. The choices are all set on the unit after it is mounted: off, low, or high volume, and one of three tones. The only thing to add to the order is two C cells, which do not come with it.
