    1) Does the Trine 4100 work with a mortise lock that has a deadbolt?
    No. The 4100 covers cylindrical and mortise locksets without deadbolts. Trine's own line is that there is no reason to cut the frame for a deadbolt when deadbolts are used on a small share of openings, so the strike is not prepped for one. If your mortise lock throws a deadbolt into the frame, you need a strike cut for a deadbolt keeper instead.
    2) Which faceplate do I need to order with the Trine 4100 for my lockset?
    None separately. Four faceplates come in the box, all 4-7/8 by 1-1/4 inches: a CC center cavity plate, and MHO and MLO offset cavity plates. Trine puts the four most used plates in the box because they cover better than 90 percent of cylindrical and mortise lock configurations without deadbolts. Keep the spares, they are also the way you take up door sag on a job later.
    3) Is the Trine 4100 fire rated, and does the fail safe version keep that rating?
    Fire rated to 3 hours, Class A, in a single door and frame configuration, WH recognized for UL10C, and it also meets UBC 7-2, CAN4 S104 and NFPA 252. One catch that decides the order: the WH fire listing is void when the strike is set fail safe. On a fire door you order the fail secure version. The 4100 also carries UL 1034 burglary resistant and UL 294 6th Edition listings.
    4) Should I order the Trine 4100 fail safe or fail secure?
    Fail secure means the strike stays locked when power drops and the door still opens from the inside by the lever, which is what you want on most perimeter and tenant doors, and it is the only choice on a fire rated opening because the WH fire listing is void on fail safe. Fail safe releases on power loss, for egress schemes tied to the fire alarm on a non rated opening. Both are stocked in all seven finishes. It is ordered as one or the other, not switched in the field.
    5) Does the Trine 4100 fit a standard ANSI 4-7/8 inch strike prep?
    Yes. The faceplates are 4-7/8 by 1-1/4 inches and the strike meets ANSI A156.5-1992 for that opening. The cutout follows A115.1 with a slight jamb modification, so on an existing A115.1 prep expect a small amount of jamb work rather than a straight drop in. If you are matching a jamb already cut 4-7/8 by 1-1/4, this lands on it.
    6) Is the Trine 4100 suitable for an exterior gate, or do I need a different electric strike?
    The Trine 4100 is not outdoor rated. For a gate or other exposed opening, the Camden CX-ED1959 Series is an outdoor rated electric gate strike. The CX-ED1959 carries a fire rating of No, so it belongs on the exterior gate rather than on a rated interior door assembly, where the 4100 with its Class A 3 hour rating is the one that fits.
    7) What is a direct alternative to the Trine 4100 electric strike that also ships with multiple faceplates for cylindrical and mortise locks?
    The Camden CX-ED1689L-4 is a fire rated 'universal' low profile electric strike supplied with 4 faceplates, the same one-box approach the Trine 4100 takes with its four included faceplates for cylindrical and mortise locksets without deadbolts.
