1) Will the Trine HD005 electric strike work with my cylindrical lockset in a wood jamb?
That is exactly what the HD005 is built for. It's a light commercial strike intended for replacement installations in wood jambs and iron gates, and it works with bored cylindrical locksets having up to 5/8 inch throw, figured on a 1/8 inch door gap. The mortise backset is 2-3/4 inches and the cavity is 1/2 inch deep, 9/16 inch wide and 1-1/2 inches high, so the latch has to sit inside that pocket. If your lockset throws more than 5/8 inch, or your gap runs wider than 1/8 inch so the latch penetrates deeper, this is not the strike for that opening.
2) What size cutout does the Trine HD005 strike need in the jamb?
The faceplate measures 3-1/2 by 1-3/8 inches and screws on, with a mortise backset of 2-3/4 inches. Behind it the jamb has to be routed for a cavity 1/2 inch deep by 9/16 inch wide by 1-1/2 inches high. On a replacement job in a wood jamb that usually means enlarging the existing lip strike mortise rather than starting fresh, so measure the old prep against those numbers before you pull the door.
3) Does the Trine HD005 stay locked or unlocked when the power goes out?

5) Can I install the Trine HD005 strike on an exterior gate?
The HD005 is listed for iron gates as well as wood jambs, but it is not outdoor rated, so it wants a protected location rather than direct weather. For a gate fully exposed to rain, the Camden CX-ED1959 Series is an outdoor rated electric gate strike and is the safer pick.
6) Will the Trine HD005 fit an aluminum storefront jamb?
No. The HD005 has a 3-1/2 by 1-3/8 inch faceplate cut for wood jambs and iron gates, which is nothing like a storefront jamb prep. For aluminum, the Adams Rite 7100 and 7160 Series strikes use a 1-1/4 by 4-7/8 inch flat faceplate sized for aluminum jambs. If the jamb is hollow metal or wood and you want that same narrow ANSI style plate instead, the Adams Rite 7170 carries the 1-1/4 by 4-7/8 inch faceplate for hollow metal and wood.
7) I need a Grade 1 electric strike for a commercial entry. Is the Trine HD005 the right one?
The HD005 is a light commercial strike, a step up from the standard 005 but still built for replacement work in wood jambs and gates. If the spec on the drawing calls for Grade 1, look instead at the Von Duprin 4211 in 32D, a Grade 1 heavy duty strike for cylindrical locks with 12/24VDC field selectable operation, or the Alarm Controls AES-100, a Grade 1 heavy duty electric strike.
8) My existing latch has a 1/2 inch throw. Will the Trine HD005 still catch it?
Yes, 1/2 inch is inside the range. The HD005 accepts bored cylindrical latches with up to 5/8 inch throw based on a 1/8 inch door gap, so anything at or under that catches in the keeper. Where it fails is a longer throw, common on 3/4 inch latches, and there the HES Folger Adam 310-1(X) strike body covers 1/2, 5/8 or 3/4 inch throw latchbolts.
9) What is a fire-rated alternative to the Trine HD005 electric strike for a rated opening?
