Metallics TBH14 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What thread size is the Metallics TBH14 turnbuckle?
The TBH14 takes 1/4-20 thread, so it mates with 1/4 inch coarse-thread rod, eye bolts, or hook ends of the same size. If your existing hanger rod is 3/8-16 or 1/2-13, this one will not thread on.
2) Does the Metallics TBH14 come with hook ends on both sides?
It is a hook and turnbuckle assembly, so one end is a hook. Use the hook to catch a strut, ring, or anchor point and run 1/4-20 rod or an eye into the opposite end to take up slack.
3) How many turnbuckles come in a pack of the Metallics TBH14?
One piece per pack. If you are tensioning several runs of conduit hanger or sign support on a job, order the quantity you need rather than expecting a multi-pack.
4) What is a hook turnbuckle used for in electrical work?
A hook turnbuckle is the adjustment point in a suspended support run. You anchor one end, hook the other to your support point, then spin the body to pull the slack out and level the load, which is how installers tension hanger wire, conduit drops, and suspended fixture or sign supports. The TBH14 does that job at 1/4-20 thread.
