Metallics TBH516 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What thread size is the Metallics TBH516 turnbuckle, and what rod will it take?
The TBH516 turnbuckle is a 5/16-18 unit, so the threaded ends take 5/16 inch rod or eye/hook fittings cut to 18 threads per inch, which is the standard UNC coarse pitch for 5/16 inch. If the hanger rod on your job is 3/8-16 or 1/4-20, this one will not thread on.
2) How many turnbuckles come in a Metallics TBH516 order?
One piece per unit. If you're tensioning multiple runs of support wire or bracing on an electrical rough-in, order a quantity to match, since each opening or hanger point needs its own turnbuckle.
3) Is the Metallics TBH516 turnbuckle made in the USA?
Yes, the TBH516 5/16-18 turnbuckle is USA made. That matters on public and institutional work where domestic sourcing is a condition of the contract.
4) What is a turnbuckle like the Metallics TBH516 used for on an electrical job?
It's the take-up fitting in a wire or rod support run. You thread it in line, then turn the body to draw the two ends together and pull the slack out of a messenger wire, seismic brace, or hanger assembly, and back it off if you need to relax tension later. The TBH516 is an electrical supply item, sized 5/16-18 with a hook end.
