WAC Lighting WAC-PD-12015 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the WAC Chic PD-12015 pendant be hung on a sloped ceiling?
Yes. The low-profile canopy on the Chic PD-12015 includes a hang straight swivel, so it mounts on a sloped ceiling and keeps the glass shade hanging plumb. It is a ceiling-mounted, rod-hung fixture.
2) How low can the Chic PD-12015 pendant hang, and what downrods come in the box?
Out of the box you get three 12 inch downrods and one 6 inch downrod, plus 120 inches of wire. That covers an overall height from 16.5 inches at the shortest up to a maximum of 136 inches with additional downrods added. For a kitchen island at standard counter height you will normally use only one or two of the rods supplied.
3) Will the WAC Chic PD-12015 work on 277V commercial power?
It will. The driver is a universal input type accepting 120V, 240V, or 277V, and it installs in the junction box rather than in the fixture body. That makes it usable on both residential 120V circuits and 277V commercial lighting branch circuits without ordering a different version.
4) What dimmer works with the Chic PD-12015 LED pendant?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV), TRIAC, or 0-10V dimmer for smooth continuous dimming. A standard incandescent/magnetic low voltage dimmer is not the right control for this driver.
5) Can this pendant go over a bathroom vanity or in a covered porch?
The Chic PD-12015 is damp location rated and IP44, so it is suitable for a bathroom or a covered exterior area like a porch ceiling. It is not wet location rated, so keep it out of direct rain or spray.
6) Does the WAC PD-12015 pendant meet California Title 24?
Yes, it is listed as both Title 24 compliant and Title 20 compliant, which is what California jobs ask for. It also carries ETL and cETL listings for US and Canadian installations. It is not Energy Star rated and is not ADA compliant.
7) Do I need extra parts to hang this pendant lower than 120 inches?
Yes. The included wire extends to a total of 120 inches with the supplied rods. To reach the 136 inch maximum suspension you have to buy additional downrods separately; nothing beyond the three 12 inch and one 6 inch rods ships with the fixture.
8) How much light does the 14.88 inch Chic LED pendant put out, and can the LED be replaced?
It draws 14W and delivers 1200 lumens at 3000K with a flood distribution, rated for an average 50,000 hours. The LED engine is integrated, so there is no socket and no lamp to change; the whole fixture is replaced at end of life. Custom color temperatures are available by special order.
9) How big is the Chic pendant and how much of the ceiling does the canopy cover?
The shade measures 15 inches in diameter and the fixture body is 8.13 inches tall. The canopy backplate is 4.75 inches across, which is a slim footprint on the ceiling, so if you are replacing an older fixture with a large escutcheon check that the existing ceiling opening will be covered.
10) Is the WAC Chic PD-12015 hardwired or does it plug in?
Hardwired only. It wires to a ceiling junction box, where the universal voltage driver also sits, so an electrician is needed. There is no cord or plug option.
11) What finish and shade does the PD-12015 come in for matching other fixtures?
It ships as PD-12015-BN in Brushed Nickel with a smoke glass diffuser, at 3000K. That is the single configuration, so a multi-unit order across a building will match itself without having to specify finish per unit. The hardware base is aluminum.
