Simple, clean and efficient. The Slide LED Path Light reworks a classic wall sconce into an architectural Landscape Path Light work of art. The unique geometric shape appears to curve slightly away from the base. Energy efficient LEDs create a dynamic ambient downlight, resulting in a dramatic effect any landscape. This path light is powered by bright long lasting integrated LED's and can conveniently tap into any existing 12V landscape lighting system. Factory sealed and water tight with an IP66 rating for protection against high-pressure water jets and outdoor elements. Casted using a special k-alloy aluminum that is engineered to withstand the most challenging environments over time. Solid brass coated in bronze (-BBR finish) may be available for enhanced protection against corrosive elements and is recommended for use in coastal or marine environments. Includes a 9in mounting spike (Guardian Spike sku # 9000-SP9-BZ sold separately for more durable mounting) and a 3ft lead wire with two gel filled direct burial wire nuts. 1) Can the WAC Slide 6311 path light run off my existing 12V landscape transformer?
Yes. The Slide 6311 is a 12V fixture that taps into an existing 12V landscape lighting run, accepting 9-15V AC input at 3W. If you are starting from scratch, a magnetic or electronic power supply is required and is sold separately. It arrives with a 36 inch lead wire and two gel filled direct burial wire nuts for the splice.
2) Is the WAC 6311 Slide path light dimmable, and what kind of dimmer does it need?
It dims, but only on a magnetic low voltage (MLV) dimmer, which gives smooth continuous dimming. A mechanical dial at the base of the fixture also sets brightness integrally, so you can trim individual heads along a path without touching the dimmer. Put it on an electronic low voltage or standard incandescent dimmer and you should not expect it to behave.
3) Will the WAC Slide 6311 hold up in a coastal or salt air installation?
The standard bronze version is cast k-alloy aluminum, which is built for demanding environments but is still aluminum. For coastal or marine sites, WAC calls for the solid brass version coated in bronze (the -BBR finish) for better resistance to corrosive elements. The fixture itself is factory sealed and water tight at IP66, rated for wet locations.
4) How is the WAC 6311 path light mounted, and do I need to buy anything extra?
A 9 inch mounting spike ships in the box, which is what most installers use to set it in planting beds or soil. For firmer or higher traffic ground, WAC offers the Guardian Spike, part number 9000-SP9-BZ, sold separately. Other mounting and glare control accessories are also separate items. The fixture is hardwired, not plug-in, so plan on a splice to the 12V run.
5) How much light does the WAC Slide 6311 put out, and how far apart should I space them?
Each head is a 3W integrated LED delivering up to 110 lumens at 3000K with 90 CRI, aimed down as ambient downlight. That is accent level output, not area flood, so on a walkway path installers typically run them closer together rather than trying to cover long gaps with one fixture. A twist of the fixture at indexed intervals adjusts the beam from flood to spot, so you can tighten or widen coverage after the spikes are set.
6) Does the bulb in the WAC Slide 6311 get replaced when it fails?
No. The light source is an integrated LED, rated at 60,000 hours, so there is no socket and no lamp to change. When the LED reaches end of life the fixture is replaced. Nothing to order separately for lamping, it is included.
7) Does the WAC Slide 6311 meet California Title 24 for residential outdoor lighting?
