WAC Lighting FM-216-CS-WT – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can the WAC Lighting FM-216 Glo flush mount run on 277V commercial circuits?
Yes. The Glo FM-216 ships with a universal input voltage driver rated 120-240-277V, so the same fixture works on residential 120V and on 277V commercial lighting branch circuits. It is hardwired, not plug-in, so it needs a junction box and a licensed connection.
2) How do I change the color temperature on the Glo FM-216 after it is installed?
The 5-CCT selector is a switch inside the fixture. Twist off the acrylic diffuser and flip it to 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K or 5000K. It can be set before, during, or after installation, which is why property managers use one SKU across a building and tune warm in units and cooler in back-of-house. It ships set to 3500K.
3) Will the FM-216 work with my existing LED dimmers?
It dims on ELV (electronic low voltage) and TRIAC dimmers, and WAC recommends one of those two types. Standard incandescent/magnetic low-voltage dimmers are not the right pairing. If you're standardizing a building, spec the dimmer at the same time as the fixture.
4) Can this 16.5 inch WAC Glo fixture be mounted on a wall instead of a ceiling?
Yes. The Glo FM-216 mounts either as a ceiling flush mount or as a wall sconce, and it is ADA compliant, which matters for corridor and stairwell sconce placement. Projection off the surface is 4.5 inches.
5) Is the WAC FM-216 rated for a bathroom or a covered exterior walkway?
It carries a Damp location listing, ETL and cETL in the US and Canada, so bathrooms, covered porches, breezeways and similar protected areas are fine. It is not a wet location fixture, so keep it out of direct rain or shower spray zones. It is also rated for closet installation.
6) Does the FM-216 meet California Title 24 for new residential work?
Yes. The Glo 16.5 inch flush mount is Title 24 JA8-2016 and Title 20 compliant, CEC listed, and Energy Star certified, with a CRI of 90. That combination is what California inspectors look for on high-efficacy residential luminaires.
7) How much light does the FM-216 put out and how big an area will it cover?
2175 lumens from 27 watts, which is roughly the output you'd expect from a large multi-lamp ceiling fixture at a fraction of the draw. At 16.5 inches across it is sized for hallways, foyers, bedrooms, offices and utility spaces as a general ambient source rather than task lighting.
8) Do I ever have to replace lamps in the WAC Glo FM-216?
No lamps to change. The LED module is integrated and included, rated at 60,000 average hours, so for an MRO crew it removes relamping from the maintenance schedule entirely. When the module eventually fails the whole fixture is replaced, not a bulb.
9) Can the Glo flush mount be left on continuously in a stairwell or corridor?
It is built for 24/7 operation, which is the usual requirement for egress corridors, stairwells and parking-level lighting. Paired with the 60,000 hour rating, continuous duty still gives a long service interval.
10) What finish and diffuser does the FM-216 come in, and will it glare?
