WAC Lighting WAC-PD-29858 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will this WAC Frame pendant mount on a sloped ceiling?
Yes. The cable suspension on the Frame pendant is rated for slope ceiling mounting, and it is a ceiling-mounted hardwired fixture, so you need a standard junction box in the slope and no separate sloped-ceiling adapter.
2) What dimmer works with the WAC PD-29858 LED pendant?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer or a 0-10V dimmer. The driver is not compatible with plain incandescent/TRIAC-only controls, so if the room is on an old rotary or standard leading-edge dimmer, plan on swapping it. The universal-voltage driver sits inside the canopy, which means no remote driver to find a home for above the ceiling.
3) Can the WAC Frame linear pendant run on 277V in a commercial building?
Yes. The integral driver is universal voltage, listed at 120-240-277V, so the same fixture works on residential 120V and on 277V commercial lighting circuits. No separate transformer or voltage-specific part number to order.
4) Can the WAC Frame pendant go over a bathtub, on a covered porch, or in a kitchen with steam?
It carries a Damp location rating and an IP44 rating, so covered outdoor areas, porches, and bathrooms outside the direct shower spray are fine. It is not rated for wet locations, meaning anywhere exposed to direct rain or direct water contact is out.
5) How bright is the WAC 16 inch Frame LED pendant and what color is the light?
7160 lumens at 58 watts, in a 3000K warm-white. The acrylic diffuser throws a flood distribution rather than a spot, so it is general illumination across a table or island, not accent light. Both finish options ship at 3000K.
6) What finishes does the WAC PD-29858 Frame pendant come in, and what are the part numbers?
Two: Brushed Aluminum, ordered as PD-29858-AL, and Black, ordered as PD-29858-BK. The housing is solid aluminum with a co-extruded white acrylic diffuser on both.
7) Do I need to buy bulbs for the WAC Frame pendant, and what happens when the LED fails?
No bulbs to buy. The Frame pendant uses a single integrated LED module rated at 50,000 average hours, supplied with the fixture. There is no lamp socket, so there is nothing to relamp; at typical commercial hours that rating puts replacement well out into the maintenance cycle rather than on a routine schedule.
8) Does the WAC Frame LED pendant meet California Title 24?
Yes, it is listed as both Title 24 compliant and Title 20 compliant, which is what a California spec job needs for a permanently installed luminaire. It is not Energy Star rated, and it is not ADA compliant, though ADA is not usually relevant for a ceiling-suspended pendant.
9) Is the WAC PD-29858 a plug-in fixture or does it need to be hardwired?
Hardwired only. It mounts to a ceiling junction box and the driver lives in the canopy, so an electrician terminates line voltage at the box. There is no cord or plug, and the dimming control needs to be an ELV or 0-10V device on that circuit.
