1) Can the WAC Nantucket WS-W85116 wall light be mounted outdoors in an exposed location?
Yes. The 16-inch Nantucket sconce is rated for wet locations and carries an IP65 rating along with ETL and cETL listings, so it can go on an exposed exterior wall with direct rain. It is also approved for indoor use, so the same fixture can carry over to a covered porch or interior wall.
2) What junction box do I need for the Nantucket WS-W85116, and does it need a separate LED driver?
It wires straight to 120V AC with no driver or transformer, and it mounts on a pancake junction box. The backplate is 5.5 inches, so the box needs to sit within that cover. It is a hardwired fixture, not plug-in. WAC lists 277V and 240V versions as special order if your building runs on those.
3) Will the Nantucket LED sconce work on my existing dimmer?
Only with an electronic low voltage (ELV) or TRIAC dimmer. Standard incandescent/magnetic-low-voltage dimmers are not the right match. Swap the dimmer to an ELV or TRIAC type and you get smooth continuous dimming on the 6W integrated LED.
4) Does the WS-W85116 meet California Title 24 and Dark Sky requirements?
Yes on both. The Nantucket 16-inch is listed Title 24 compliant and Title 20 compliant, and it qualifies as Dark Sky because the gooseneck design throws light downward. It is also ADA compliant. It is not Energy Star rated.
5) How much light does the 16 inch Nantucket put out, and is it enough for an entry door?
450 lumens at 6W, 3000K warm white, with a flood beam spread aimed downward.
