WAC Lighting WAC-WS-W21116 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What junction box do I need for the WAC Bandeau 16 inch sconce, and does it need a remote driver?
It's a hardwired 120V AC LED fixture with no separate driver or transformer, so it mounts directly on a pancake junction box. The backplate is 5 inches, which is what has to cover the box. No LED driver enclosure or transformer space is required in the wall.
2) How do I set the color temperature on the WAC Bandeau LED sconce, and do I have to pick it when I order?
The Bandeau is a 3-CCT fixture with a switch inside the canopy that an installer can reach during mounting, toggling between 3000K warm white, 3500K white, and 4000K cool white. You still order a default preset: 30, 35, or 40 in the part number (WS-W21116-30-BK, -35-BK, -40-BK). If a building standardizes on one temperature later, the field switch means the same fixture can be changed without replacing it.
3) Will the WAC Bandeau wall light dim, and what kind of dimmer do I need?
It dims smoothly, but only on an electronic low voltage (ELV) or TRIAC dimmer. A standard incandescent dimmer that isn't one of those two types will give you flicker or drop-out at the low end, so spec the dimmer accordingly on a 120V line-voltage circuit.
4) Does the WAC Bandeau sconce meet ADA and California Title 24 requirements for a corridor or exterior entry?
The Bandeau is listed ADA compliant and meets both Title 24 and Title 20. It is not Energy Star certified, so if a rebate program requires Energy Star specifically this one won't qualify.
5) How much light does the 16 inch WAC Bandeau put out and how much power does it draw?
1200 lumens at 17 watts from an integrated LED, with a flood distribution and up/down wall throw. The integrated LED is rated at an average 50,000 hours, so there is no lamp to replace over the life of the fixture.
6) What size is the 16 inch Bandeau and which size should I use for a front door versus a long wall?
The WS-W21116 measures 16 inches in the long dimension and 5 inches wide, with a 5 inch backplate. Bandeau also comes in 10 inch and 22 inch sizes. The 10 inch suits a tight entry or a narrow pilaster, the 16 inch is the common single-door entry scale, and the 22 inch reads better flanking a wide garage bay or a double door.
7) Is the WAC Bandeau available in 277V for a commercial panel?
As stocked it is a 120V fixture. WAC lists 277V and 240V as special order options for Bandeau, so a commercial job on a 277V circuit needs that special order rather than the standard black 120V version.
8) What finishes does the WAC Bandeau 16 inch outdoor sconce come in?
Black only, a weather resistant powder coated outdoor black. All three orderable versions (3000K, 3500K, 4000K preset) are black, so if you're matching a building's existing bronze or brushed hardware, Bandeau won't match it.
