1) Can the WAC Volga WS-55318 sconce run on 277V in a commercial building?
Yes. The Volga LED sconce uses a universal input voltage driver rated 120V-240V-277V, and the driver is concealed inside the canopy, so there is no remote transformer to find space for. That covers both residential 120V circuits and 277V commercial lighting branch circuits with the same part number. It is hardwired, not plug-in.
2) Can I change the color temperature on the Volga sconce after it ships, or do I have to order the right one?
Tri-CCT is built in. A switch inside the canopy, reachable during installation, toggles between 2700K warm, 3000K warm white and 3500K white. It leaves the factory pre-set at 3000K. So if you are matching an existing space, you can set it on the wall rather than reordering. Ordering is still done by CCT code (27, 30 or 35), all in black: WS-55318-27-BK, WS-55318-30-BK and WS-55318-35-BK.
3) Will the Volga sconce dim on my existing wall dimmer?
Only on an ELV (electronic low voltage) dimmer. The Volga is specified for smooth continuous dimming with ELV dimmer options. A standard incandescent/TRIAC forward-phase dimmer is not the specified control, so if the room is wired to one, plan on swapping the dimmer when you install. Worth catching before the electrician leaves the site.
4) Is this WAC Volga sconce OK for a bathroom or a covered exterior entry?
No. The Volga WS-55318 is rated for dry locations only and listed as an indoor fixture, and it uses a fabric shade, which is why. Keep it out of shower zones, tub surrounds, exterior entries and anywhere exposed to splash or weather, and pick a damp- or wet-location rated sconce for those openings.
5) Can I use the Volga LED sconce in a corridor that has to meet ADA projection rules?
Not where ADA protrusion limits apply. The Volga is not ADA compliant, and it projects 3.75 inches off the wall. For corridors and egress paths subject to ADA, choose an ADA-rated sconce instead. It is fine on walls outside those paths, such as flanking a bed, mirror or entry wall.
6) Does the Volga LED sconce meet California Title 24 for a multifamily or hospitality project?
Yes, it is Title 24 compliant. It carries ETL and cETL certification, which covers both US and Canadian installations. It is not Energy Star listed and not Title 20 listed, so if your spec calls out either of those specifically, this is not the fixture.
7) What size is the Volga sconce and how much of my junction box will the backplate cover?
The fixture stands 17.63 inches high, 3.75 inches wide and 3.13 inches deep, with an 11 inch backplate. The 11 inch backplate gives you room to conceal a standard single-gang box and the driver, but it is narrow, so center it on the box rather than trying to hide an offset rough-in. Mounts vertically on the wall, and it throws light both up and down.
8) Is 2146 lumens enough for the Volga to be the main light in a small room?
At 2146 lumens from 19.3W, the Volga puts out more than most decorative sconces, and with a flood beam spread plus up/down distribution it will wash a wall broadly rather than spot-light. In a powder room, entry or small hallway a pair, or even one, carries the room. In a larger space treat it as layered light alongside recessed or ceiling fixtures.
9) Can the LEDs in this WAC Volga sconce be replaced, or is the whole fixture disposable at end of life?
The light source is integrated LED, with 18 LEDs built in and no lamp socket, so there is no bulb to change. Nothing to stock as a spare lamp. Average rated life is 54,000 hours, which is why most specifiers accept the integrated source in guest rooms and lobbies. When it finally fails, the fixture is replaced, not relamped.
10) What finish does the Volga WS-55318 come in, and what is the shade actually made of?
Black only, across all three CCT codes. Body is aluminum, with a textured fabric shade over an etched acrylic diffuser, so the glow is soft and even rather than a visible LED line. Worth knowing if you are standardizing a run of rooms: fabric reads warmer and softer than a glass or metal-shaded sconce, and it is not a surface you want in a kitchen grease zone.
