1) Can the WAC Lighting Alternate 18 inch LED wall light be used in an exposed outdoor location with direct rain?
Yes. The Alternate WS-W47318 carries a Wet location rating and is IP65 rated, with ETL and cETL listings, so it can go on an exposed wall, soffit, or entry with no overhang. The housing is aluminum with glass diffusers. It is rated for indoor or outdoor use, so the same fixture can be specified inside a lobby or breezeway and out on the facade.
2) What voltage does the WS-W47318 outdoor wall light run on, and do I need a different model for 277V?
One model covers all three. The driver is universal 120-240-277V and is concealed in the canopy, so the same 18 inch Alternate fixture works on residential 120V and on 277V commercial lighting circuits without ordering a separate version. It is a hardwired fixture, not plug-in.
3) Will the WAC Alternate wall light work on my existing dimmer?
It needs an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer for smooth, continuous dimming. A standard incandescent/forward-phase (TRIAC) wall dimmer is not the specified control and can give you flicker or a limited range. If the opening already has a legacy dimmer, plan on swapping it for an ELV unit.
4) How do I set the color temperature on the 18 inch Alternate LED wall light?
There is a Tri-CCT switch inside the canopy, reachable during installation, that toggles between 2700K warm, 3000K warm white, and 3500K white. Fixtures ship factory pre-set to 3000K, so if that is what the job calls for you can hang it and move on. For a project standardizing on a single appearance across many openings, set each switch before closing up the canopy.
5) Does the WAC Alternate outdoor sconce meet California Title 24 or qualify for Energy Star rebates?
