1) Is the 18 inch Archetype sconce rated for a fully exposed exterior wall, or only a covered entry?
Wet location rated, so an exposed wall with direct rain is fine. It carries ETL, cETL and an IP65 rating, and the aluminum body with a white diffuser lens is built for both indoor and outdoor use.
2) What dimmer works with the WAC Archetype WS-W13918, and will a standard incandescent dimmer work?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer. The Archetype dims smooth and continuous on ELV. A standard incandescent (leading edge/TRIAC) dimmer is not the specified control here, and pairing the wrong dimmer with an integrated LED typically gives flicker or a dead bottom end. Spec ELV at the switch box.
3) Does the WAC Archetype WS-W13918 meet ADA and California Title 24 for a commercial corridor or exterior entry?
It is listed ADA compliant, and meets both Title 20 and Title 24. It is not Energy Star rated. Note that ADA projection limits are a wall-mount condition, so verify the fixture location against your drawing, but the product itself is designated ADA compliant.
4) I need 277V for my commercial panel. Does the Archetype WS-W13918 come that way?
As stocked, the WS-W13918 is a 120V fixture. WAC lists 277V, 240V and custom CCT as special order options on the Archetype, so a 277V run is a factory special order rather than the standard catalog part. Do not put the 120V version on a 277V circuit.
5) How much light does the 18 inch Archetype put out, and how does it distribute it?
1200 lumens from a 16W integrated LED at 3000K warm white, through a flood beam spread. It is an up and down fixture, so the output splits to a wash on the wall above and below rather than a single directed throw. That makes it suited to building facades, landscape walls and sculptural elements rather than task lighting a work area.
6) What finish and color temperature does the 18 inch Archetype sconce come in?
Black, at 3000K warm white, ordered as WS-W13918-BK. That is the single configuration of the 18 inch Archetype. If you are standardizing a building and need a different CCT, WAC handles custom color temperature as a special order.
7) Do I need to order lamps separately for the WAC Archetype wall sconce?
No lamps to buy. The Archetype uses a single integrated LED module, included, rated at 54,000 average hours. There is no socket or bulb base, which also means the LED is not field-replaceable, the fixture is replaced at end of life.
8) How much wall space does the 18 inch Archetype sconce take up?
The fixture is 18 inches high and 5.5 inches wide, on a backplate measuring 5.5 by 2.75 inches. It is a vertical, low-profile form in a contemporary style, so plan for an 18 inch run of clear wall and center the box to the backplate.
