WAC Lighting WAC-WS-53318 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will this WAC Glamour sconce work in a bathroom or a covered porch?
The Glamour LED wall sconce is damp location rated and IP44, so it is approved for bathrooms and for covered exterior locations such as a soffit or porch ceiling overhang. It is not rated for wet locations with direct rain exposure.
2) Do I have to pick the color temperature when I order the WS-53318, or can I change it on site?
Both. Order it as 2700K, 3000K or 3500K, and the Tri-CCT switch inside the canopy lets you toggle between 2700K warm, 3000K warm white and 3500K white during installation. For a multi-unit job that means you can standardize the whole building off one order and still adjust a room that reads too warm or too cool.
3) What dimmer do I need for the WAC Glamour LED sconce?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer. The fixture dims smoothly and continuously on ELV control; a standard incandescent/forward-phase dimmer is not the specified control and can cause flicker or drop-out. Spec the ELV dimmer on the same order so the trim-out does not stall.
4) Is the WS-53318 sconce ADA compliant for a corridor?
No. The Glamour sconce is not ADA compliant, and with a 9 inch projection dimension it is not suited to an accessible route where protruding objects are limited. For corridors and stairwells with ADA requirements, choose a low-projection ADA sconce instead.
5) Does this WAC sconce meet California Title 24?
Yes, the Glamour LED sconce is Title 24 compliant. It is not Title 20 listed and is not Energy Star qualified. Certifications are ETL and cETL, so it is listed for both US and Canadian installs.
6) Are bulbs replaceable on the WAC Glamour LED sconce?
No. The light source is an integrated LED, included and not field replaceable, rated for an average 54,000 hours. For hotel and multi-family maintenance that means no relamping cycle, but a failed board means replacing the fixture.
7) What finishes does the 18 inch WAC Glamour sconce come in?
Two: Aged Brass and Black. Both are offered in all three color temperature orderings (2700K, 3000K, 3500K), for example WS-53318-30-AB in aged brass and WS-53318-30-BK in black. The body is aluminum construction.
8) Can the Glamour sconce be mounted sideways or with the canopy at the top?
The mounting method is listed as wall, any orientation, so it can be installed vertically or rotated horizontally to suit the layout. Set the CCT switch inside the canopy before you close it up, since it is only reachable during installation.
