1) Can the WAC Locke WS-30018 sconce be mounted horizontally over a mirror, or only vertically?
Either way. The Locke sconce is designed to mount vertically or horizontally, so the same fixture works flanking a mirror or sitting above it. Overall it measures 18 inches on the long dimension and 4.5 inches on the other, with a 4.25 inch backplate, so mounted horizontally it spans about a foot and a half of wall.
2) Does the Locke LED sconce need a separate LED driver or transformer?
No. It uses AC LED, so there is no remote transformer or driver to find room for. It wires directly to a standard 120V junction box, which is why it drops into existing sconce locations without added enclosure space. 277V is available by special order.
3) What dimmer works with the WAC Locke WS-30018?
It needs an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer for smooth, continuous dimming. A standard incandescent/forward-phase dimmer is not the right control here, so if you are replacing an old sconce on a legacy dimmer, plan on swapping the wall control as part of the job.
4) Is the Locke sconce rated for a bathroom or a covered porch?
Damp location rated and IP44, so it is approved for bathrooms and for covered exterior spots like a porch ceiling overhang. It is not a wet-location fixture, so keep it out of direct spray and uncovered weather.
5) Is this WAC sconce ADA compliant for a corridor in a commercial building?
No. The Locke sconce is not ADA compliant, so it should not be specified for corridors or other circulation paths where protrusion limits apply. Use it in bathrooms, bedrooms, and locations outside the required clear path, or choose an ADA-rated wall fixture for corridor runs.
6) Does the WS-30018 meet California Title 24 for a residential bathroom?
Yes. The Locke sconce is Title 24 compliant and Title 20 listed, which is what California jobs need for permitted residential work. It is ETL and cETL certified for the US and Canada. It is not Energy Star rated.
7) How much light does the Locke LED sconce put out, and what color?
1580 lumens at 21W, 3000K warm white, with a flood distribution. With up and down illumination from the faceted diamond backplate, that output is enough to act as the primary light at a vanity rather than just accent trim. The LEDs are integrated and rated 50,000 hours, so there is no lamp to stock or replace.
8) What finishes does the 4.5 inch Locke sconce come in, and can I match other openings in the building?
Two finishes: Aged Brass (WS-30018-AB) and Brushed Nickel (WS-30018-BN). Both are 3000K, so color temperature stays consistent across a building if you mix finishes between units. Glass is mouth blown opal etched on both.
9) Is this a plug-in fixture or does it need to be hardwired?
Hardwired only. The Locke sconce mounts over a junction box and wires in at 120V, so an existing box or new rough-in is required. There is no cord or switch on the fixture.
10) What is the Locke sconce actually made of, and will it hold up in a hotel bathroom?
