Function meets durability with this LED 3in inground well light available in 12V or 120V and 2700K or 3000K color temperatures. A mechanical dial at the base provides smooth integral brightness control and the Mini Wall Wash (SKU # 5021) includes a Second mechanical dial to toggle between 2700K and 3000K color temperatures. One sku fits most applications, eliminating the need to choose from dozens of light bulbs with varying light outputs when compared with traditional landscape lights. This wall wash is factory sealed and water tight with an IP66 rating for protection against high-pressure water jets and outdoor elements. Includes a 9in mounting spike for 12V fixtures (120V fixtures require Sku# M6000-STAKE, power stake sold separately), and a 3ft lead wire with two gel filled direct burial wire nuts. 1) Does the WAC Lighting 5121 Mini Wall Wash need a separate transformer?
Yes. The 5121 is a 12V fixture and a magnetic or electronic power supply has to be ordered separately. Input range is 9-15V AC, so it runs off a standard low-voltage landscape transformer. Budget the load at 2-16W (23VA) per fixture when sizing the transformer for a run.
2) What is included in the box with the 12V Mini Wall Wash, and what else do I need to buy?
The 12V version ships with a 9 inch mounting spike, a 36 inch lead wire, and two gel-filled direct burial wire nuts. The LED is integrated, so there is no lamp to buy. What you still need: a 12V magnetic or electronic power supply. Additional mounting brackets and glare-control accessories are separate items as well.
3) Can the 5121 Mini Wall Wash be dimmed, and what kind of dimmer does it take?
Dimming is handled two ways. There is a mechanical dial at the base of the fixture for integral brightness adjustment, set at install. For remote control, it dims smoothly on a magnetic low voltage (MLV) dimmer ahead of the transformer. It will not dim correctly on an ELV or TRIAC-only forward-phase dimmer, so spec the MLV.
4) Can I switch the color temperature on the WAC 5121 after it is installed?
Yes. The 5121 Mini Wall Wash carries a second mechanical dial that toggles between 2700K and 3000K, so one fixture covers both and you can match it to existing landscape lights on site rather than ordering a fixed CCT.
5) Is the Mini Wall Wash rated to sit in a planting bed that gets irrigation and pressure washing?
It is factory sealed and water tight with an IP66 rating, which covers high-pressure water jets, and it is wet location rated. It is also UL and cUL listed to 1838, the low-voltage landscape lighting standard. For an in-ground installation flush with grade you want a well light instead; the Mini Wall Wash mounts on its spike above grade.
6) How much light does the WAC 12V Mini Wall Wash put out and how wide does it spread?
Rated at 480 lumens at 8W as configured, with the mechanical dial covering a 190 to 980 lumen range across 2-16W. Beam angle is 80 degrees, which is a wash spread for grazing a wall or fence face, not a narrow accent beam for a tree. CRI is 85 and rated life is 70,000 hours.
7) Does the WAC Mini Wall Wash meet California Title 24 for an outdoor lighting permit?
Yes, it is listed as Title 24 compliant, and also ADA compliant. It is not Energy Star qualified, so if a rebate program requires Energy Star specifically, this fixture will not satisfy it.
8) Do I need the M6000-STAKE power stake with this fixture?
Not for the 12V Mini Wall Wash. The 9 inch mounting spike comes in the box with 12V fixtures. The M6000-STAKE power stake is what WAC requires on the 120V versions of this family, and it is sold separately.
9) Is the 3 foot lead wire long enough, and how do I splice it to my landscape run?
The fixture has a 36 inch lead, which is meant to reach a splice point near the fixture rather than back to the transformer. Two gel-filled direct burial wire nuts are supplied for that splice, so the connection to your 12V main run is buried and sealed without extra parts. For longer distances you extend with direct burial cable sized for the run length.
